Great device for a Great Price
This device is great. I was looking for a way to get some home videos I had on VHS to DVD. I looked around and a VHS/DVD combo that copies typically runs for $250 (the $150 ones dont copy), I then looked at services different stores had and Walmart and Walgreens charged $25 to $35 for each DVD which to me was a little pricey. So after reading some reviews I got this device and it works awesome. After I got it, I installed the software and drivers for my PC, hooked up the adapter to my VCR and once I found the right capture format it played right on the computer software it came with. I was able to record my tapes to digital files. The only downfall I found was the software it comes with isn't very great at making DVD's if you want to put in chapters, menu, or really edit the film. So I made digital files from the captured film and used my software I already purchased "Movie Edit Pro" for making DVDs. But for the price of this device it's a no brainier that this is the best option.

Cuts off a random amount of the first part of the recording
I'm a computer programmer, and I spent a great deal of time trying to get this to work. If I can't get this hardware/software combo to work right, best of luck to anyone else. Basically, the system (not sure if it's the hardware, software, or the combination) randomly cuts off the first part of the recording, so you can't create a recording that starts from the beginning. The problem is that you will only see this issue with full-length recordings. If you make a short, sample recording, it tricks you into thinking it works correctly. One reviewer said it cuts off 2 minutes. Well, I tried 10 different recordings, and not a single one cut off the same amount as the last one did, even when the recording length was the same. I tried this package on a Windows 10 desktop and a clean, freshly installed Windows 7 laptop with absolutely no virus checker or security running at all. It does the same thing on both. I don't care about the cost, and won't bother returning, but I wish I could bill this company for the time I spent trying to get this to work.

Also make sure you change your capture device settings to receive the best picture and audio quality with this device
WINDOWS 10 USERSInstead of being able to download the driver through the disc that comes with this product, Step 1: Go to [...]: Under the "Video Capture" Category Click on the button intersecting under "Capit" and "Driver", it should download an rar file. Step 3: Open a program that can extract the files that are contained within the rar file you have just downloaded. If you don't know what that means or don't have one, go into the windows app store and download 9zip for free or any other program that can open rar files, extract the files from the rar file using that program. Step 4: go to where you have just extracted those files and open "setup" in order to download the driver. Step 5: Restart your computer, and open ArcSoft Showbiz again. You should now be able to change the source to "Capture Device". Also make sure you change your capture device settings to receive the best picture and audio quality with this device. Worked like a charm for me, I hope it does for you too!

An altogether solid and well priced choice, but with some minor issues
I recently purchased the MyGica Capit to digitize some old VHS baby videos. As part of a recent project, I have been consolidating all of my photos and videos into one library. Knowing that magnetic mediums, such as VHS, only have a certain lifespan, I also thought I should go about digitzing my tapes. After doing some research, I realized my options were to either send the VHS's out to a professional, which could be pricey, or digitize them myself with an adapter such as this - so I purchased the adapter.I definitely made the right choice. When I received the disk with the product, I was easily able to install the software onto my Windows 10 computer - none of the issues that I saw in some other reviews (I think they updated the software). I grabbed an old VHS player we had lying around, hooked it up to the Capit, and got to work. When you record the video, you have the option of having the software stop recording after a certain amount of time, or you can manually stop it whenever you want. It also records in real time - there's really not any other way it could work anyways - and I enjoyed watching and listening to the preview as it recorded. My only issue is the post production options in the software. Even though including an ability to edit the clips, and add things like text was a nice thought for the included software in such well priced device, it was really a huge pain, and the export to file option would not work for me. So, I ended up popping the videos into Sony Vegas 13, and cropping, editing, and rendering them there, instead; however, if you do not have another editing software, you may just be out of luck.

Took a chance and so happy I did
Throughout the years my dad has recorded so much on his camcorder. The videotapes are just laying around now and I thought it would be great if I could transfer them all to my external hard drive but didn't know how to do it. After researching, I came across this awesome solution but had so many products and brands to choose from. I decided to take a chance on this particular product MyGica capit video capture and have not regretted it since. I was hesitant because of some bad reviews but this little device has been nothing but great. I did run into a small problem while installing the drivers and software since I don't have a CD drive but I just followed the instructions on a previous review and everything went smoothly from there. I have a surface 3 running Windows 10 and have had no problems with the device or the software. The software imo is really straightforward and easy to use. For the price, this product is a must buy!
