Great Grill Surface Thermometer!
I received it quickly and it looked like a good quality gauge as advertised when I opened the package! I used it the very next day cooking a steak dinner! It was easy to use, very legible and it gave me the grill surface temperature quickly. I compared it to my infrared digital thermometer reading tool that I took readings to compare them and determined that it was giving me proper readings! I was impressed and happy plus most importantly the Steaks turned out perfect!

Ensures Great Grilling
If you hate guessing the temperature of your grill or flattop, this is the solution. It will allow you to figure the hot spots on your grill and help you adjust to consistent temperatures. Our food is coming out better than ever while avoiding over and under cooking. This is inexpensive, yet appears accurate. I always make sure to wipe any grease off the glass after use or it will infiltrate the thermometer over time and ruin it. Durablity is good, but I usually end up replacing it once a year. Hard core grillers laugh at me and then realize it is a great idea and usually buy one themselves.

Great product, but buyer beware.
The Good: Works as advertised. Can easily map the thermal profile of the grill's surface. I've owned quality grills in the past, and all have provided reasonably consistent heat over the cooking surface. But, things aren't made like they once were, so a thermometer like this helps to ID the trouble spots. The Bad: Many reviewers complained that after several uses, they can't read the dial. A buildup of grease, baked on by high grill temps, leave a film on the face of the thermometer that you can't see through. The Ugly: You have to clean the face of the thermometer frequently, after only three or four uses, and depending on what you grill and how close the thermometer is to it. I found that an SOS-type pad or soapy steel wool works best. I would've given this product a 5-star rating except that the product description doesn't caution the buyer on how greasy this thing gets and needs cleaning often. Obviously, it's a given since it plays in the mud. But, many reviewers sounded the alarm, so I was prepared. Still, the merchant should've offer some general cleaning tips. For the plug-and-play type, this frequent cleaning might be too inconvenient. Nevertheless, as long as you can see through the dial, this product delivers.

You just need to know how to clean the glass!
I was hesitant to get this because several people said it became unreadable after a few uses. The first time I used it I smoked ribs and pork butts an used it for about 8 hours. It was hard to see the temp by that time, and I was a bit afraid I had gotten something I could not use. The smoke and gunk was on the outside of the glass face and came clean like magic when I cleaned it with the stuff we use to clean the smoke off the inside of our wood burning stove. We use a produce called Speedy White. Just Google it! We are not really that smart---it took years to find something to get the door of the wood burner clean!

Slow but works
This item is for use on a flat top grill or pan not really for charcoal grills. I found it to be pretty slow to reach temp but it is accurate enough once it heats up. I use this on a Lodge grilling plate on a propane camp stove so it took several minutes to get the thermometer to register the temp correctly then adjust the flame to get to my desired temp. It's ok for the price.

finally
don't know much about cooking. it really helps to know what temp you are working with. this works on my grill and frying pan or wherever I need to know the temp. Good price for what you get.

Just had to write a review!
I rarely write reviews! I ordered two of these to see how well they registered together. Put them in a 375 degree over for a few minutes and when I pulled them out they were both at 390 degrees. I put my Kitchen Aid corded digital probe on the same rack and it read 387 degrees. Our oven must run a little hot. As they cooled down, their temperatures were the same all the way down to the 100 mark. Once in awhile I’m amazed and these two performed so well, I decided to write the Review these two deserve.

Can’t Handle the Heat
Didn’t last one grill session. Temperature color gradation on the face immediately faded. Not certain where grill temperature maxed out but when the grill cooled the needle reversed to less than zero. Obviously worthless at this point for reporting accurate temperature.
