This item works perfectly no rushing very sturdy will handle 500 lbs plus nice reflectors.ive used it to transport concrete stove fridges shingles you name it a true workhorse for me being in maintenance field

I was going to get a cheaper black steel cargo carrier for around half the price, but a friend has one of these and I was impressed by the lightness of it and the 500 pound load rating. They have had zero issues with corrosion or other failures. It’s held up well for them.With a screw gun, Phillips bit, and 8mm and 10mm open end wrenches, I had it put together in a half hour or so. I purchased the water resistant bag made for this carrier, I have not bothered to try it out yet, but when I do, I’ll review that as well.One major consideration is that the 500 pound rating is limited to what the tongue rating is for your particular hitch. I have a class 3 2” receiver hitch on this van that’s rated for 525 pounds max tongue weight. My other car has a class 2 2” hitch rated for 300 pounds max tongue weight. So for that vehicle, 300 is the max safe load even though the carrier can take 500. Please look up your particular hitch and it’s rating so you don’t damage your vehicle or lose your cargo.

I was skeptical about the strength of the rack when we opened the box, however, once it was put together it was very sturdy. It is light enough that one person can slide it into the receiver on our Motor home if necessary.

Takes a little while to assemble but appears well made and sturdy. Certainly good value for money.

This costs a few dollars more at present, but it seems well built, with heavy duty design and good weight.

It's a basic cargo carrier - no hinge that folds, requires some assembly, and it's mostly aluminum - but it holds up to 500 lbs and it simply works. It's sturdy - the bottom piece that attaches to the vehicle rear hitch is steel - the 4 side walls are aluminum which makes the carrier lightweight - MUCH lighter than other hitch cargo carriers. My wife could easily attach or remove this cargo carrier onto the vehicle hitch by herself. And once installed with an anti-rattle hitch attachment I could jump up and down on the carrier with no movement. Take your time assembling the carrier and reference the diagram carefully to determine how it goes together (the written instructions suck). The piece with the Maxxhaul logo is placed on the opposite side of the hitch so it faces the car behind you. I added some highway reflective tape to the aluminum horizontal rails to increase the visibility of the carrier even though it has some red reflectors on it. I bought the matching Maxxhaul black cargo bag and it fits this cargo carrier perfectly.
