Lessens your burdens
This pill caddy is good for someone who forgets to take their pills, but who’s not so far gone that when they hear the alarm, they don’t know what’s going on. So, keep that in mind. The patient has to have enough of their faculties that they can go and get the pills out when the alarm sounds. It’s pretty easy to set up. The directions are fairly clear. One thing to keep in mind: it matters what time of day you set this up. My mom does a.m. and p.m. pills. I set this up in the middle of the day. So, the next alarm that would go off would be her evening alarm, so I made sure that her evening pills were the first ones to come around when the machine rotated. This has only happened once, but one of her pills got turned sideways and actually got stuck, so that when she turned it upside down, all of them came out but that one. And she’s not cognizant enough to notice and make a point of digging that pill out. So, I don’t think it’s going to be much of a problem, but thought I should point it out to be thorough.I really like this. So far, it’s working great. If your loved one forgets to take their pils routinely, this might work for them. The alarm is loud enough (there are different volume settings), and I love that simply taking the action to dump the pills out turns off the alarm. That really helps reinforce the taking of the pills. Can you imagine if there was a big button that would shut off the alarm? People would shut it off b/c it’s irritating, then they might forget to take the pills. So, I love that feature. My mom’s only been using this for about 3 weeks, but so far, it’s working great, and I’m definitely glad I bought this. I just hope it’s a long time before my mom gets to the point where when the alarm goes off, she says, “What’s that beeping sound?”

Big help but only holds 28 days if that’s 1 time a day
I’m a caretaker for a family member and I also work. I was having a lot of trouble distributing all her many different medication, she takes different meds 4 times a day. So much for all is us to keep up with. Plus she would be asleep and we would just set them on the table and she would take hours later whenever she woke up. Not with this thing!!!! The alarm is so loud it wakes her up each time, makes her feel in control of her own meds. I just fill it up each week and leave it in her room. No confusion on what to take when, no missed doses, and no more headache. This device was very expensive but so worth it. I love the locking feature as well because she was getting her meds mixed up in the little pill boxes and taking the wrong ones at the wrong time when I tried to let her have control of her own meds. Learned that lesson really quick. Definitely a must have for the person who has to distribute medication to someone.

Does the Job, but Keep an Eye on the Clock
I'm currently caring for a family member with Alzheimer's who cannot remember to take their medication on time. This device accomplishes the task of keeping the pills secure underneath the locked plastic cover (so the patient can't take them all at once) and alerting the patient when it's time to take medication.PROS:■ One month in, I'm still on the first set of batteries with no alerts about them being low yet, so I would rate the battery life as GOOD.■ Loud alarm with a flashing green ring makes it impossible for the patient to ignore their medication.■ Light and easy to carry■ Pills are securely held in place, even if the dispenser is turned upside down■ Construction seems fairly solidWhile this dispenser functions adequately, there are a few issues that need attention:CONS:◆ My device loses time at around one minute per week. So after three weeks, the alarm sounds at 6:12 instead of the set time of 6:15. So you'll need to keep resetting the clock to ensure accurate medication schedules.◆ The device beeps LOUDLY even when adjusting settings, configuring schedules, and setting the clock. This volume will hurt your ears and confuse the patient, who may think it's time to take their pills because they hear the same beeping. You can't set anything during the night without risking waking others.◆ As you can see from the pictures, there is a label that says OPEN right on the front of the device; this has caused the patient to continually attempt to open the lid to get their pills, nearly breaking the dispenser. I think it would be better if there were an arrow pointing to the little sliding cover or no label.◆ The thin cardboard rings do not stay in place and often pop up when refilling the dispenser.OVERALL, if you can manage these issues, this is a good dispenser that has taken some of the burdens of medication management.(edited to correct typo)

Needed the Alarm
Perfect pill dispenser for our forgetful mom. The alarm works as designed to keep our mom on her medication schedule and the dispenser is large enough that she’s not constantly moving it about the house.Would purchase again!
