Delicious, slightly “pickled” or ponzu type flavor
I was craving mussels so I sprang for these Matiz in olive oil & vinegar. Delicious! Besides the olive oil and vinegar, they add spices (paprika, nutmeg, cinnamon, and garlic). To my tastebuds it’s a bit like a mild pickling combo. Eat them with bread or crackers alongside a good salad. I wish I could afford to eat them regularly now that I’ve tried them but they are priced for the quality.

Top-Notch Product!!!
My husband and I are very impressed wit this product. Our favorite culinary shop in Ashland, Oregon sells Cole's Smoked Mussels, which we love. We wanted to give these a try and we're very glad we did. They are absolutely delicious. We put them in our salads and, as an appetizer, we spread a generous amount of Tuscan Kale Pesto by Radici of Tuscany (sold on Amazon and in our culinary shop) on three or four of Mary's Gone Crackers Super Seed Classic Crackers and top each with a mussel. OMG. People go crazy over these at parties.

Tangy
Love these! They're not my favorite canned mussels of all, but the price is pretty good for organically raise mussels in real olive oil. Great way to add protein to pasta when you need a fast and easy meal. The vinegar really helps balance it.

Mild and delicious
I bought these along with other Matiz products, which I've really enjoyed. These sat on the shelf for a while because I didn't know what to expect. I was really surprised at the taste and texture; very nice mild taste. The subtle hint of vinegar really brightens the mussels. They have a good firm texture, but, are also spreadable. I had these on crackers, but can easily see them on a salad or added to a sauce and poured over pasta.

Very good mussels
These mussels are really good. We followed the suggestion of one of the reviewers and served a mussel on a crostini spread with kale pesto. Excellent tapas-type dish.

Very underwhelming
I heard great things about this from someone before and maybe that’s why I was disappointed but the mussels were not the best. I maybe took 2 or 3 bite before I tossed the whole can away. The sauce was so blend. Just tastes like canola oil instead of olive oil mixed with some watered down flavor.Oh and do not dip bread in the sauce. It was definitely unworthy of my toast…Save your money and try another brands of tinned muscles I would say.

Not a fan, even it maybe a good quality
I never liked canned clams, so I can't give it 5 stars but it probably is in good quality.

What an ordeal!
I'm a big fan of tinned fish & was looking forward to trying these organic smoked mussels. The tab was very stiff, so I was having a helluva time opening the can, when the whole tab just snapped off after the can was opened only a tiny crack (c. an eighth of an inch). (But still open enough for the oil to spill all over my hands and the countertop) I then drained the rest of the oil into the sink & tried opening the can with my can opener, to no avail. Next, I got a sturdy kitchen knife & tried to pry the lid off but only succeeded in perhaps getting it open another tiny fraction of an inch.I then found a small spoon (for demitasse coffee) & slowly, painstakingly extracted bits of crushed mussels & put them into a bowl. I never managed to get a whole undamaged mussel, no matter how careful I tried to be. Many minutes later I gave up in frustration, though I think there had to have been a lot more mussels left in the can ... but my spoon didn't have a long enough handle & my knife was too inflexible. So, I tossed the rest of the can into the garbage, much to my great annoyance. We tried the broken mussel bits, which were tasty enough, but we really didn't detect much in the way of smokiness.I'm sure I got that one difficult can in a hundred but, that said, I'll try to find smoked mussels elsewhere & produced by another brand in the future.
