Kaiyodo Revoltech Yamaguchi Mini Action Figure #001: Metal Gear Solid: Solid Snake

Being someone who is not a fan of Revoltech figures I very very tentatively bought this because I am such a big fan of Metal Gear Solid. What I got really shocked and surprised me in the best possible ways.What you ultimately get is a highly detailed approximately 3 and 1/2 to 4 inch figure with a decent amount of accessories, great range of articulation (The eyes on this tiny thing is actually articulate!) and a fantastic sculpt.There are a few minor gripes I have with this figure that are inconsequential in my opinion but others MAY have a problem with. He has a decent range of accessories but not great. In my opinion there should have been a few more hand choices for posing options but what he has is still good. The figure has a slight sort of hunchback which may look kind of odd depending on how you pose him BUT isn't really noticeable at all from the front...AND that's about it in terms of gripes.Honestly if Revoltech made their 6 inch figures with half the amount of detail and effort that went into this figure I would have been a fan of them long ago.

Much smaller than the other Revoltech line figures, but this one is apart of a smaller figure line it seems, but is still probably the most accurate solid snake out there from what ive seen.

I love Revoltech figures. The paint is always great, the articulation is amazing, they're super durable usually. Which is why I'm sad this figure came to me with a warped pelvis that unfortunately is unfix-able due to how the pieces have pinched it. I don't think it's any one person's fault, but most of the issues with this figure come from unnecessary part segmenting and using rubber where a hard plastic piece would have been better. For instance- the rubber buckle straps on his thighs are a pain to keep visible after posing. Why weren't they just molded into the thigh like the other two straps? Why would having a flappy, annoying piece to keep after during assembly seem like a good idea? My only guess is that they're there to help negate the visibility of the groin cavities which wouldn't exist with a solid, hard plastic pelvis piece. To top that all off, the shoulder pads are somewhat flappy because they chose to sculpt them as separate pieces when just carving the upper arm as a single unit would have worked perfectly.Despite the warped pelvis and weird rubber design choices, the paint job on this figure is pretty great and once you align the eyes right it still manages to look rather flashy. I love the blocky sculpt for this, it helps emulate both Ashley Wood and Yoji Shinkawa's artwork. This figure still looks great, and can be posed beautifully, despite being a weaker entry in the Revoltech line.

The design of this solid snake is perfect. You can easily pose him in all the positions he is showndoing. Even though he is really small (as tall as an IPhone 4) he is really sturdy as in nothing hasbecome lose or fallen off even after putting him in all the poses. He comes with a lot of accessoriessuch as his tiny removable cigarette which also comes with an extra in case you lose one. He alsohas a removable face so you can orientate his eyes in different ways to give him multiple looks. I amreally surprised as to how much this figure can do in such a small size. I would easily spend 60 ormore on this figure.

This is hands down one of the best metal gear solid action figures ever produced. I own a lot of the play arts Kai figures, and they're cool but are really limited when it comes to articulation and posability. Also, I prefer the way these look in comparison. The play arts figures are more realistic looking, but these are more faithful to the artwork of metal gear solid. It also comes with tons of accessories and extra parts. Plus, the eyes are posable too! You can move the eyes! If you're a fan of the games, and want a truly amazing figure that will meet and surpass all of your articulation and posability expectations then I would definitely recommend these.

Is Snake, what else you want? But is also Revoltech, so don't expect great painting or awesome detailing. It has a lot of accessories if you appreciate that kind of stuff. The moving eyes gimmick seems to me overkill for a figure this size but it doesn't hurt either. Personally I prefer Figma over this brand any time, but as Metal Gear fan I must own this one along with the Gray Fox figure. Of course Gray Fox looks better with Revoltech than Snake thanks to the character design.

Ok so here's the deal. Firstly this definitely is not a knock off. Secondly, this lil guy is amazing. Not saying this because I'm a metal gear fan. I'm saying this as a collector. At just over 4 inches, this guy is true to video game likeness with over 30 points of articulation. He comes with several true to game accessories and with the stand, he can be posed in hundreds of different ways. This Solid Snake is a must for any action figure buff as well as fan of the Metal Gear Franchise. The only con is this is not a kids toy. It does have a degree of fragility. But otherwise any adult collector will love it.

I am very frustrated. I was very excited for this figure. I got a $100 Amazon gift card from work because we had a good year. I decided to buy some fun stuff including this figure. I have had 3 copies of this figure so far. The first copy's leg was unattached. The second copy was missing the back of his head. I just received the third copy and his arm does not stay attached and falls off incredibly easily. I am so frustrated. I have the Grayfox figure and had no problems with it. It's absurd that I got 3 defective copies in a row. I like the figure, but wtf!
