Substantial plate, green, but tough to separate
Overview...I bought these plates for a program where we serve catered food at an elementary school once a week. The plates are substantial and provide a stable way for kids to carry heavy entrees such as pasta and meatballs.I chose these because....Our school has a robust green effort and a composter, so I was specifically looking for a plate that was biodegradable/compostable/recyclable. (I later learned that the volume of plates we produce exceeds what our composter can handle, but it's good that we've got something biodegradable/recyclable.) I chose these plates because, given my criteria, they were the best value I could find in Amazon Prime.A consideration, depending on use...These plates work fine with a meal that's served right away, but I've noticed that the plates will weaken and become flimsy if they hold food for several hours (eg, if you transported food home in one of these plates and then tried to eat it several hours later). This isn't a problem in our case, however. (Maybe this is the way all bagasse plates are -- I'm not sure.)Con...My only real qualm with the plates is that they tend to stick together and require effort to separate to ensure you're not inadvertantly handing out food on 2 or 3 plates instead of 1. In a fast-paced serving line sometimes we don't have that time, so if we have extra time before lunch we'll separate and stagger the plates in a way that makes it easy to grab 1 (we don't always have the time, so I'm sure we unknowingly end up giving out more plates than is necessary).

Can't wait for the next church pot-luck
We bought these for a church pot-luck and were happy. They are a little small, but so strong you can go back for seconds and not have your plate folding on you in line! Good product, great price, thanks Amazon!
