Working out well for us (cat has food allergies)
This is working out well for us.We have a cat with food allergies. We needed a duck or rabbit recipe with a single source of animal protein and no fish. Many recipes don't provide this - the main ingredient may be duck or rabbit, but it may also contain chicken and/or salmon oil. We also needed grain free, the fewer ingredients the better. This one fits the bill. A single source of animal protein, no fish, grain free, limited ingredients. The cats are eating it well and it's not triggering the allergy symptoms.I'll be honest, we (and the cats) really liked "Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Grain Free" canned cat food which comes in duck and rabbit, but it is so expensive - 12 cans of Instinct is the same price as 24 cans of Merrick. So if you can afford it, check out "Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Grain Free" canned cat food, but if you need a "plan B", do try this food by Merrick, it is working for us.

DON’T BUY THIS: Quality declined. Multiple orders with numerous bent & leaking cans
Will NEVER buy again. Bought 49 times; needed “limited ingredient” novel protein since kitty has irritable bowel syndrome & is on prednisolone. She liked it a lot at first. But, lately, quality has declined. Some batches very watery with little meat. Previously, most shipments had a few slightly bent cans. Annoying, but the last two orders were packed so badly that cans broke and food got on other items. Last order had damaged packing box with badly bent & broken cans with leaking food on outside of case. Today’s box was falling apart when delivered to front desk of my bldg. Box had a “heavy” sticker, but wasn’t nearly strong enough. A big stain was on inside of box, cans were smashed & leaking. Food & liquid got on containers of most of the other dozen items in box, including other cat food, personal hygiene products, pills, air filter, etc. Spent a long time on phone with Amazon cust svc going over everything. He was gracious, esp considering how angry I was. I sent pics to him as requested & we went over everything. Everything damaged will be either replaced or refunded. Then I had a HUGE mess to clean up. I buy many brands of cat food fr Amazon. No other brand has given me such trouble. Done with this company.

My Cat Loves It
My cat loves this food, but I simply cannot afford it. Too expensive!

Seems like formula has changed? Cats won’t eat it
I have one very picky eater and this is a wet food I could always count on her eating. But none of my cats would touch this most recent order… the consistency is completely different and smells different too (to be honest I think it smells like the they would like it more but unfortunately not the case). Even my cat that eats everything wouldn’t touch it :(

Lifesaver for cats allergic to chicken & TASTY!
I have nothing but gratitude for this formula. Both love the taste and it doesn't have extra stuff in it.I ABSOLUTELY recommend whether food allergy or to make your cat lick his or her chops!

Cat likes it and it works
My cat is allergic to several things and needs a limited ingredient diet. He used to go through semi regular stages where he would stop eating his food because he was tired of it. With the vet brands, I was throwing out tons of money. He's been eating this food for about a year now and hasn't gone through one of those stages yet. Also, he has no skin issues from it, so I know it is truly limited ingredient.

Merrick quality has taken a nose dive
I was a huge fan of Merrick Purrfect Bistro for the last five years at least... and that was all I fed my cats. But within the last year or longer, the quality of the cat food AND the especially packaging have plummeted. My cats no longer eat Merrick Purrfect Bistro with their previous gusto, and particularly the "limited ingredient" versions. But my MAJOR complaint is the quality of the PACKAGING. I was buying Merrick's by the case and in the 5 ounce size. Within the last year or longer a shipment is just as likely to arrive damaged with one or more cans leaking as it is to arrive in proper condition. I have made complaints to Amazon Customer Service many times regarding damaged and leaking cans. Amazon has been good about replacing the shipments but I'm still uncertain as to whether the damage occurs at the Merrick factory or at the Amazon warehouse and delivery vans from rough handling. The cans now are very thin, cheap aluminum and cannot take much abuse. When one or two cans on the case are leaking, it essentially means the entire case must be thrown into the garbage. One case arrived with leaking cans with maggots crawling on the outside. So what I've started doing lately is to purchase the Merrick food that I want at PETCO. The PETCO price is the same as Amazon and at least I can inspect the cans for damage before buying. I am willing to do that despite the small inconvenience of having to drive to the local PETCO store rather than have the product delivered to my doorstep by Amazon. I am very disappointed; very disappointed and am considering swttching to another brand. Purina purchased Merrick's in 2015 and it wasn't too much after that when the quality of the food and especially the packaging started sliding.

My cats are happy
Comparative price and the free delivery won me over. My kitty boys love it. My youngest has food sensitivities to who knows what (diarrhea), but he is fine with all the flavors of Merrick Limited Ingredient. I give it to both of them.
