Works good
If there is no sound out of speakers, check your wiring. I ended up wiring the remote turn on for a sub amp instead of a remote turn on for the factory car amp. But is a great product.

Works Great & Made things super simple.
Didn't have to splice into factory wiring. Was able to solder the harness from the aftermarket head unit to this harness on my bench in my garage. Then simply plugged it into the back of the stereo & Toyota's factory harness upon mounting of the head unit. If wanting to keep the the factory speakers matched with Toyota's factory amplifier than this is the best way to go to keep it simple.I recommend this quality product, because it's simple and works great. Although, I can't say that I have heard of or familiar with Metra whatsover until this purchase. I would definately buy a product from them in the future.Other Thoughts:I feel that it's always best if you are going to keep the factory speakers intact that you should use the factory amp that is included since they are properly mated for each other. This takes the guess work out, and helps prevent from under or over powering those factory speakers which could lead them to an early grave. Granted, you can still blow 'em if you are too ridiculous with EQ & volume levels.

Simplifies the installation, but not without flaws
This wire harness simplifies the installation of an aftermarket head unit, but has some issues that you should be aware of, especially if you are a novice at installing a new car stereo. First, as noted in other reviews, this cable does not include a wire for dimming the display when the headlights are on. Although, this may not seem important, when driving at night, the display may be very bright and be a distraction. I tapped into the dash lights (12v), which was easy on my 1999 Celica, but I still had to splice and solder it in. But all in all, the cable made the installation easier than if I did the installation without it. Note, this Toyota harness (70-8112) works best on vehicles that will be using a separate power amplifier (either the factory amp or an after-market amp), it includes RCA connectors to plug into the preamp output from your new head unit. However, it also includes all of the necessary speaker wires in the event you do not have a separate amp in the vehicle. Note, If you do have a factory amp in your car, but will not be using it, you should get cable # 70-1761. It has two harnesses/connectors, one for the power connections and one for the speakers (you have to unplug the speaker connector from the factory amp). Lastly, the company that shipped my cable (A&A Online) sent it in an envelope with no documentation, I had to go to the Metra website to confirm the wire pinouts and colors. This is not a show stopper, because the wire colors are intended to match the colors on after-market head units. However, to be sure, I wanted see the wire pinouts and colors. And even after I had this info, I still used a volt meter to confirm the voltages before making the final connections (it's better to be safe than sorry). I recommend that you solder or crimp all connections, do not rely on simply branding the wires. I soldered my connections and used shrink tubing.I have two ratings for this product, one for the cable and one for the company that is selling it on Amazon. For the cable (quality and features), I give it a 4. It would be a 5 if it had the dimmer wire for the display. I give the company that is selling it on Amazon a 3 since it came with no documentation.

Exacrtly right for 1996 Toyota Avalon
It took a little work to find this harness, as most of the internet thinks that "all Toyotas" use a different harness. (two connectors, different pin count.) If you bought that kit already, and it was clearly wrong, this is probably what you're looking for. This harness did the job perfectly. You'll need a stereo with RCA outputs on the back however. In my case, the stereo I used only had 1 pair. (simply left and right) so we used a pair of RCA splitters from those outputs to this adapter. tieing together the front and rear left as a pair, and the front and rear right, as a pair. Doing this eliminates the ability to "fade" the music to the front or back of the car, but this is the kid's car. He'll never do that anyway.

This harness did not fit the make and model of my vehicle.
The harness was a waste of my money. It did not fit into the factory wire harness for my stereo like it was supposed to. I had to shorten the adapter to get a solid connection. Additionally, the grounding wire was not securely attached to the connector. Needless to say the ground wire came out. I am now out of the money I spent on this piece of junk.

It fit 98 Lexus ES-300
It is perfect fit for the 98 Lexus ES-300. The radio trim was too small. I end up didn’t use it. The new radio come with a trim that fit into this adapter. The color could be darker to match the original panel. But still acceptable. Overall very happy with this adapter trim.

Didnt fit
i could have swore that i ordered the correct one but I don't appreciate that if you go to return it that you have to pay for shipping to the tune of 4.00 on a 9.00 item. so i just kept it.

It was easy to install my new car stereo
I hadn't worked on electronics since I was about 13 (I am a lot older than that now). I watched a few youtube videos, got a cheap soldering iron and some shrink tube insulators, and did the wiring myself. It was easy, quick, and works great! I saved a bunch of cash by not paying for professional installation.

Won’t work Land Cruisers with Amplifiers
Watch out, this harness won’t work with Land Cruisers that have the amplifier mounted under the front seat.

Praticidad

Excellent Product and a Time Saver
Seemed well made and I have been using it for 6 weeks now and am very happy. Note: The red wire on mine was almost an orange color, there is no "illumination" wire but that is not important for me or most people because many units now dim automatically. This works on Toyota's with a factory amp separate from the tuner/radio and it keeps the amp function. On 19997-01 Camry's it works on cars with the "premium" stereo which can be identified by the 2 small tweeters on the top of front door panels, it will not work with the "standard" stereo because that has a different shaped plug. This little item does make wiring a stereo both much quicker and easier (but it is not essential) because you do not have to research what wires to cut and hope that you cut the correct one. Use the little easy-to-lose color chart included to wire this item to the wiring harness that came with your aftermarket stereo. Do your internet research because I see one user found it did not carry the subwoofer signal on a 1992 Lexus, the "luxury" Toyota/Lexus cars do not seem to get many stereo swaps so information is scare on low volume cars.

Easy to install, sounds great
I was skeptical about using this harness because I've heard that the factory Toyota and Lexus amps are not great and that I would get some ground loop feedback.I soldered all my connections to the aftermarket head unit (except RCAs obviously) and I have minimal ground loop feedback which isn't really noticable when listening to anything at moderate volume or higher. On my 99 Lexus, even the factory subwoofer bumps now and it all sounds fantastic.

Metra recommended the correct fit for the car; contrary to advice from several other suppliers
Like; fit the car perfectly.
