Works well!
I have an laptop upgraded from the origial i5 dual core CPU to an i7 quad core. I use it for mobile image processing. I ran into problems where it would not reach its maximum frequency during prolonged image processing due to heat. The CPU would hit 100 deg C and throttle back. It would only run at 2300 mhz.Using this fan the system maxes out around 97 dec C, which allows the CPU to run its maximum frequency of 2800 mhz without interuption, and it cools down quicker. I am setting the external fan to Manual setting 13 while I batch process. The temperature difference may not seem like a lot, but keeping it under 100C cuts my processing time by 20%. Since I'm frequently processing 400+ images at a time, this makes a big difference for me.Laptop is a Lenovo T430 with the i7-3612QM processor and 16GB RAM.The mounting system works well for me, as it stays in place using the adhesive taped metal mount and the built in spring loaded clips.

It does what it is made to do.
It is alright, it helps pull out the hot air in a laptop to keep it a little cooler. It is not a be all end all product, as it will only assist a couple degrees Celsius, but having the little extra kick to keep your gaming laptop cooled so you can get a couple extra frames in nice.Pros:Keeps laptop a couple degree cooler.Easy InstallComes with fittings for most if not all laptops.Cons:Loud, it is obvious it is on without headphones on.It really only helps a couple degrees, so don't except to turn an old or badly made laptop into a 4k machine. Not made for all laptops, it needs that side air passageway to really work to its fullest extent. All in all, it isn't a perfect product, but does what it advertises. It will assist cooling, but will not be the be all end all product. Only way to do that with a laptop is to basically make it a desktop, and why have a laptop at that point.

Cooling fan
Works great to help cool my laptop from over heating while I play COD. What I like about it is that it sucks the heat out keeping my laptop at a manageable temperature.

Beware: Cooling Pad Causes Damage to Built-In Laptop Fans
The media could not be loaded. I strongly advise against purchasing this cooling pad. While it advertises effective cooling with its temperature display and adjustable wind speeds, it comes with a significant downside: the way it pulls air is against the rotation direction of the laptop’s built-in fans. After using it for just 3 to 4 months, my laptop's internal fans started making noise due to this conflicting airflow. I ended up having to spend $200 to replace and install new fans, which was frustrating. While it may cool your laptop temporarily, it does so at the cost of damaging your built-in fans. I would not recommend this product.

Actually works and decently as well
Tried this and was a little skeptical about it but it works better than a laptop fan cooler tray. I use it on a thunderbolt ultra book and am EGPU. I don't have to carry around a bulky usb fan and a folding laptop stand now when traveling. Much more compact setup. This keeps the frame rate drops from cpu overheating to a minimum. You will need to experiment to find the best cooling spot on your laptop. It won't do much for big gaming laptops since they usually have decent fans already but for ultra books and other basic laptops this will cool them better. If you are gaming using thunderbolt/EGPU this will help alot. Does get noisy like a desktop case/cpu fan but the more consistent frame rates are worth a little noise.

Definitely Does The Job
Unlike most people looking at this, I needed it not for gaming, but because my laptop's own internal fan failed. It was only a few dollars more for this fan than an OEM replacement and I didn't have to open up the laptop to install this. The installation was even easier than I expected and the kit comes with several different adhesive foam pieces to tighten the fit. I didn't need them though, and the smallest of the rubber gaskets provided fit my laptop perfectly. The only problem for me is the auto setting does not work. This is because with my internal fan not working, no air is pushed into the external fan, which isn't a problem for gamers looking to add more cooling. Speaking of cooling, this fan is definitely overkill for regular movie streaming, though I usually leave it on the highest setting and see temps of about 90-92F. With regular web browsing and the fan on speed 5 of 13, the temps are lower. Clearly it moves a lot of air.

worked great for a few months but now does not keep my laptop cool
I blow this fan out regularly to make sure it is not clogged with dust and it moved quite a bit of air for the first few months I had it. It weakened over time and now has to be replaced. I have another unit, not the same model, which is several years old and still going strong. This is a bit of a disappointment.
