Ingersoll Rand231-BOOT Protective Tool Boot

Cover fits on pretty good. There was no use for hot water or a heat gun to put it on, you just need to work it slow. There was also no need to cut the holes bigger either, the numbers are visible as you can see from the photos. It does what it's supposed to do.

Works well. Protects the impact gun from getting destroyed

Note: After Amazon sent me the wrong item twice, they wouldn't even try again to send me the correct one and instead refunded my purchase price. I had to end up finding this from an online auction site to get the correct one. But IF you manage to get the correct boot from Amazon...I had this boot but in blue on my old IR231 for over 20 years. It got dirty and gouged up, but did the job of protecting my tool very well. Finally it tore near the button/slider to change the direction and it would get caught underneath and keep me from fully switching direction. After lasting so long and giving me my money's worth, I decided to replace it.This new boot seems to be of the same quality as my older one. It was a similar hassle to install, but it wouldn't work nearly as well if it didn't fit snugly, so I consider that a good thing in this case. It has the same coverage of the old one and has the same feel. Only time will tell if this will last as long, but I am very happy with it at this point. I'm only giving it 4 stars for now because I don't know about the long-term durability yet.

ingersoll rand tools are highly polished beautiful tools. i'm sorry but i think it would be a sin to scratch/dent/mistreat that mirror finish. this boot does the job and surprisingly looks good on the tool. wish i had one that fit my new IR 3/8 straight with the butterfly.

It's not about the money, durability I'm familiar this impact tool, it makes work a lot easier, plus it old school 😎✔️💯 mechanics 😎✔️💯

Fits perfect on my 231. Warm it in hot water to soften it and it goes over your gun no problem. Keeps the garage floor from beating up my IR..

showed up on time, awsome! boot is translucent not a solid colour ( not that awsome). really hard to fit over your 231 C impact gun.. I had to leave it in front of a heater and try putting it on and finally got it half on tool then used a heat gun to it until it was practically melting before it was pliable enough to pull over most of the way and had to use a screwdriver to flip the boot over the reverse forward selector area.It doesnt fit the greatest over the forward reverse selector hole is bigger on the right side then the left... no biggie really .I didn't expect it to be a pain in the ass to install! Now its on it works well but fat chance ill be able to ever take it off without ruining it to clean my gun! Oh well its only ment to protect it any how. Would give it 5 stars but it was a major P.I.T.A. to install and im sure it will be just as hard to put on a second time let alone to remove it, possibly will destroy it attempting that ( no biggie for the price). Looks pretty good on my gun too ( didnt buy it for fashion LOL still a not bad looking "accessory"Also makes it easier to spot being a fairly flashy red colour.Makes me want to buy boots for the rest of my guns

Fits good but is a real job putting it on the only way is to let the boot sit in hot water to soften up or it's next to impossible to put on.In the process in putting it on a bit of the lettering and logo got rubbed off but it doesn't bother me it will get worn off over time and I had to cut a little of the boot off so it wouldn't interfere with the forward and reverse mechanism

I warmed it gently with my heat gun before installation and it made it easy to install. It seems to offer good protection to the tool.
