Very sturdy and the handle is well attached to the mallet end. I feel very comfortable using this with minimum exertion. The quality of the metal is very good. The size of the metal that touches the meat is quite large and allows you to tenderize the meat in less steps. It cleans up easily and has done well washing in the dishwasher. I think this is adorable item. The handle is very nice size for grip. Not overly heavy.

This was a replacement for one I had for over 20 years. So far it is working well the weight and thickness of the hammer is great.. It is easy to hold in your hand and use on meat/chicken. Washes well, my husband puts everything in the dishwasher and it has held up well - stainless steel is great.

Bought this because the one I bought from Walmart just about wrecked my dishwasher and soaked my other dishes in some kind of black grease. Ugh!
