If you are working with cactus, gives these gloves a pass
These gloves are actually remarkably supple and I think that they would be fine general purpose gardening gloves, but they offered little resistance to cactus spines, especially the very fine ones. Not only do they get through the gloves to your skin, but they remain embedded in the gloves so that you must tweeze them out before using the gloves again.AddendumSince posting the review above, three things have happened that have led me to increase my rating from 2 to 4 stars. First, Raino from No Cry Safety Gear contacted me and worked hard to understand and resolve the problem; ultimately offering to refund the price of the gloves since, even with a second pair, they did not keep out the fine cactus needles. I was impressed by this attempt.I decided not to accept the refund because these are excellent gardening gloves, as good as any that I have used for general purpose gardening including handling thorned roses, which I also grow. Finally, searching the Internet I found a technique that allows me to clear out the cactus safely. I wear these gloves but, before trying to handle the cactus, I wrap it in several sheets of newspaper. The combination works well. I have included a photo of the cactus that I am digging out and removing.

Makes dealing with blackberries much less unpleasant
I don’t write a ton of reviews, but wow. I am honestly very impressed with these gloves. I’ve purchased gauntlet style gloves before and they were fine for rose bushes but always failed me when I would try to deal with blackberry bushes.I had somewhat low expectations on these. I figured it would be better than most gloves but still a painful experience to try to remove some overgrown blackberries on my property. I couldn’t have been more surprised. Over an hour of pulling canes out— At first timidly, then once I realized how tough these are, I was really yanking. Not a single thorn came through to my skin. See my pictures for an idea of what I was dealing with. These will keep your hands happy and whole. What more could you want from a work glove?

No more excuses!
We moved into a house a few years ago with a small blackberry bush in the backyard. Hooray! But I've been at a loss as to how to prune it - until this year! Call it a blonde moment, but I didn't realize thorn-proof gloves even existed.I tried them out for the first time today, and WOW. I was finally able to get all the dead branches out that I didn't dare touch before. Now everything is clean, and we'll be able to harvest everything (instead of longingly admiring the berries buried inside the bush).Only criticism - they don't make pants! ;-)

Gloves vs blackberry vine... Who will win in this epic battle royal?!
Those first moments when you go to grab a black berry vine with a new pair of gloves are tense. Will they live up to the hype? What if the thorns are too thick? What If i grab too hard? Cautiously I gripped the vine... steadily applying pressure, closing my eyes, wondering if any moment I would feel the sharp pain of the thorn piercing my digits. My hand enclosed all the way and i started to pull, when a sudden *snap* happened. The thorn tip had snapped off and fallen away, leaving my precious delicate skin unharmed. Holding the gloves up I started in awe and wonderment. Was almost not even noticeable where they thorn had left the tiniest of marks before it surrendered to these surprisingly flexible and soft gloves.

Not for dead blackberry vines with long thorns
I’m a woman, got long fingers, and size S is a perfect fit. I got big bushes of blackberries alongside the property line. They are mixtures of dead, semi-dead and live and thriving blackberry vines with some unwanted participants, The Weeds. The gloves did well against young, thriving vines but not against the dead ones. When the thorns are long, they puncture your fingers through the gloves and sadly the tips break leaving them in your skin. Spent 20 minutes pulling the vines, couldn’t grab them really but picked them up one or 2 of them at a time, very carefully. Probably cleaned up like 0.2% of what I got out there and said “maybe tomorrow”. I thought I could just go Rambo pulling them like a total stud but after couple thorns stuck in my fingers, I chickened out.I see negative reviews from those who tried to deal with long thorns of cactus. I don’t recommend this product for dead blackberry vines with long thorns. My puppy is very interested in this product as chew toys, though. I see that the red arms bleed so I will not let her have them but she confirms genuine leather. Thinking to return them.

Fantastic protective pruning gloves with only one teeny-tiny quibble, easily resolved
These are easily the best "sticky situation" gardening gloves I had ever tried. I originally bought them because I was faced with a serious pruming job on a ridiculously large Berberis that was 'armed to the teeth' with the typical spines and thorns. I confess I was a bit apprehensive at first but was delighted to find that I survived the project with nary a scratch. One thing I did discover, though, is that when grasping a thorny branch or stem it is prudent to do so "lightly" rather than a close hold, because if working on a plant with thin needle-like spines (rather than the larger ones such as on roses) it is possible for them to penetrate the protective layer IF it enters the material absolutely straight in, rather than at any sort of angle, and under pressure. (I found this out firsthand, no pun intended) This eventuality can be completely avoided, however, by using a light, rather than tight, grip on the plant material. After subduing the berberis I moved on to successfully rescue a rhododenron from being engulfed by a rampant Smilax (another nasty customer) and then pruned back a holly that was exhibiting signs of similar territorial ambitions. I am sure I will be using these gloves regularly for years to come!

Good Quality Gloves
I have used the gloves for removal of old thorn bushes and found them to be robust and protective. The leather is tough but soft on the inside and very comfortable on the hands. Being the gauntlet type, they protect the wrists also. Very happy with my purchase. After having he gloves for a week or so, the founder of the company, Nocry, emailed me to ensure I had read and understood the 'users instructions' to ensure long lasting use. Well recommended.

Great gloves but the red dye comes off!
I ordered these gloves specifically to help cut down an extremely thorny bush. They arrived promptly which was perfect. In terms of protection they were brilliant and I didn’t get cut from the bush once. However when I took the gloves off after a few hours work I was rather disappointed to see the red dye had come off on my wrists and lower arms. Not what I would expect from such a product, hence why I can’t give it a higher rating.Following my review, Raino from NoCry got in touch to try and resolve the issue. They sent me replacement gloves but unfortunately I still had the same problem. I’d like to add, that their customer service was excellent and they did everything possible to help create the right outcome. My bad experience with these particular gloves wouldn’t put me off doing business with them again.

Gute Investition,absolut praxistauglich

Thirty years of gardening - best gloves ever
Read the reviews. Thought I’d take a punt. Glad I did! These gloves are amazing. Cleared enough brambles, blackthorn etc to create a 10ft bonfire without so much as a slight feeling of any thorns or spikes coming through these bad boys. I’d honestly say they are the best gloves I’ve ever bought ( last pair of gauntlets were £50 and not as effective, but also thick and heavy. These gloves protect amazingly well yet are really thin, supple and soft so dexterity is almost unchanged from bare hands.Just buy some.

so I'd recommend wearing a pair of skin tight or rubber gardening ...
I've used these gloves for some industrial scale gardening with work for 2 months now, and they still haven't frayed yet. They can handle a lot, but they're still not full proof when it comes to brambles or roses, so I'd recommend wearing a pair of skin tight or rubber gardening gloves underneath, so any spike that gets through these won't make it to your skin. I tried bamboo working gloves (rubber skin tight things) and although they made your hands smell after a few uses, they worked brilliantly in combo with the nocry leather gloves. Most other gloves are too loose or big to fit snuggly inside.
