Surprisingly awesome
I was on the fence on this. To me, Wyze was a brand I don't know, and I wasn't sure how good a QR code would work for this purpose. I'm here to tell you that it's just amazing. In fact, it's so good, that I am going to take a serious look at their other products and do some upgrading.I had a beam module which worked fine EXCEPT I had to change batteries 3 times a year. This is absurd to me. Every time I changed batteries I would get annoyed by it. I caught the Wyze one on sale and thought I'd give it a try. Instead of a door sensor, it uses a QR code and a camera mounted by the opener. For the install:I just used the 3M sticker thing on the base of my opener, put on a metal plate to the sticker and the camera magnetically mounts to that. It's easy and convenient. Clean the base first where the sticker goes (I used a degreaser spray and then water to rinse it off, then alcohol just to be sure it was super clean). The rest of it I was able to strategically wrap and wind the existing metal brackets and position it nicely behind the opener. The QR code I just put it somewhere near the middle, but not right behind the car in case I want to open the trunk as to not block it. It probably doesn't matter that much but that's what I did.I only had one issue with the app install, which I'll detail here in case it helps anyone else. I did the QR calibration, and it was successful. However I was not seeing any notifications for open/close. I tried a few things (being new to it) without luck. What did work, however, is I reset services and restarted the camera. That was it. No big deal. So if you find it isn't working quite right after QR calibration, just go in the app and do that.Image Quality: The image is amazing. Low light... really amazing, I was surprised to see good image quality with color even in low light. I haven't tried out the total dark yet, I'll try to update once I do.(Update: enabled the Near distance IR Auto, super clear b&w image in pitch darkness)Build Quality: It isn't as heavy or sturdy feeling Google camera. It's very light. It doesn't feel cheap or anything, but definitely doesn't have that weight the my other cameras have. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but as long as they last I'm fine with it. The nice part to this is that they are easier to mount and less bulky.Other?Features are really nice, rivaling or maybe even better than my Google cams. The image quality definitely seems better. The app is so much faster than nest or google home. The connect time on the camera... also super fast. When I bring up the app, the image is just there right away. No waiting on buffering and all that. Really impressed by that, too.I've been down on Google's cameras lately as I feel like Google isn't even trying anymore. The newer Google cameras aren't really any better than the old ones (I have both). I feel like the only upgrade was they could make them cheaper for more profit. The Wyze ones are seriously nice and I am really considering cleaning house and dropping all my Google cameras and replacing them with Wyze. It's considerably better overall.

Works better than I expected
This little gadget impressed me. I does everything I wanted it to do: open/close garage remotely, be able to view the garage remotely, and be alerted if the garage door is open for too long (which is why I got this in the first place). The installation wasn't the easiest but luckily there are videos online. Once it was installed, this thing was pretty smooth. One thing to note: I had to leave the QR code on the garage otherwise it would complain about not being calibrated, but that's not a big deal for me.

ALMOST perfect - Scan/Copy your QR code
This is a great smart garage system, but not perfect. Installation was easy since this camera was an addition to my current Wyze cameras. I'm super happy I turned an EXTREMELY OLD garage system into something I can control from my phone and monitor. The camera scans a QR code (included) that you put within camera frame to determine if the garage is opened or closed. You can record to a Micro SD card for continuous recording or set to record motion and/or sound detection only. The night vision works great in total darkness. I love everything about this system. My ONLY gripe about this product as well as some other customers have stated, the included QR code is TOO SMALL. I mounted the camera in FRONT of the motor facing the garage door and it was struggling to detect the QR code. Therefore, sending me false notifications that the garage door was open when it wasn't. Luckily I scanned the QR code before I applied it to my garage door. I ended up having to split the QR code in half and print it on 2 sheets of 8.5 x 11 pieces of paper in landscape mode. NOW the system is flawless. Could have been 5 stars.

Surprisingly Smart, Reliable, and Packed with Features — Excellent Value
I didn’t expect to be this impressed with a garage door opener, but the Wyze Smart Garage Door Opener with built-in camera exceeded expectations across the board. I’ve used Wyze products before (cams and sensors), and this one integrates seamlessly into their ecosystem while offering a few features I wasn’t expecting at this price point.Installation & Setup:Installation was straightforward and well-documented. The included mounting plate, wiring harness, and adhesive markers made it easy to align the sensor and camera. I’m not an electrician, but if you're comfortable with basic wiring (just connecting to the terminals on your garage door opener), this is a very manageable DIY job.The Wyze app walks you through everything step-by-step. It identified my opener brand instantly, and within about 25 minutes, everything was connected, tested, and working. Wi-Fi signal strength is important — I had a weak signal in my garage initially, but adding a mesh node nearby solved that issue completely.Video Quality:The built-in 1080p camera is a huge plus. During the day, video is clear and crisp. At night, the color night vision works better than expected — not just grayscale IR like older cameras. You can easily see people, vehicles, packages, or anything else happening in or around the garage.Two-Way Audio:Wasn’t something I thought I’d use, but it’s come in handy more than once. The audio quality isn’t studio-level (obviously), but it’s perfectly fine for telling someone "just leave it by the door" or asking a delivery driver to hold on.Smart Features & Reliability:The ability to open and close the garage door remotely from anywhere has already saved me more times than I can count — whether letting in a neighbor, receiving a delivery, or just checking that I actually closed the door after leaving in a rush. You can set up alerts for door open/close, schedule routines, and even link to Alexa or Google Assistant. Everything works fast and reliably. It’s also great that the door position is determined by a physical sensor, not just power state — so you always get an accurate reading of whether it’s actually open or closed.App & Notifications:Wyze’s app has come a long way. It’s intuitive, well-designed, and supports grouped notifications. I like that I can quickly view the live feed from the camera and control the door from the same screen without jumping between menus.Security:For a smart home device controlling physical access, I was a little cautious at first. But two-factor authentication, event logs, and adjustable access settings (including notifications for manual door use) give me a good level of confidence. It’s as secure as you’re going to get for a cloud-connected device.Final Thoughts:Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much more than basic remote access when I bought this, but Wyze delivered something much more polished and feature-rich. Between the smooth app experience, the very functional HD camera with night vision, two-way audio, and the ability to monitor/control the door remotely — it’s a great all-in-one solution for smart garage security and convenience. If you're already in the Wyze ecosystem or even if you're not, this is one of the best smart garage solutions for the price. Rock solid once installed, and I’ve already recommended it to two friends.
