Yes. It has a wheel of colours on the back and you can choose just one colour by pressing the relevant part of the wheel or hold the power button for a few seconds for it to go through the range.

Q: what's the difference between the mini led light and the micro led light, apart from the size of the unit?

Hiya, I think the mini has more colour combinations and is probably a bit brighter?

Q: Can you have Just a normal warm white light

No only coloured light red orange green yellow blue magenta purple but it's more lilac than purple ..

Q: Can this be set to come on using an external timer?

No, it cannot. If you power it down - e.g. via an exernal timer - when it comes back on, it will cycle all colors and automatically switch off. Frustrating indeed.
