Dual Voltage 115-230V Shaver Socket White

I bought this to replace a faulty shaver socket in my bathroom. This is a like for like design, easy to install with clear instructions. I'm not an electrician and managed to put it on following the instructions from the box. Works just as described and good value for money. Recommended product!

As of 10/4/25 what I received does not match what is in the photo. The labelling is different and there is no neon. This appears to match the review that Tom wrote on 4/5/17. Whilst maybe the neon would have been nice it is not a problem for me.My main concern was that the unit should incorporate a switch so that the primary is only powered when there is a 2-pin plug inserted. I confirm that this is true. I also care about noise but I know that any transformer can hum so I wasn't expecting silent operation. Initially I could only hear a hum with my ear against the front, but during my tests it seemed to get louder - which I expect as the transformer warms and the plates loosen from the sealant. Only time will tell how loud it gets. This is based on an "open" bench test so maybe it will be better or worse when installed in pattress box.Regarding installation I measure that the transformer depth from the back of the faceplate is 37mm. This means that it could fit in a shallower back box but I advise people to use a deep one so that there is some air around the transformer - it will get hot, especially if used over a long period to charge a toothbrush (which is one of my use-cases). The transformer is 48mm wide so any lugs/knock-outs/cable clamps must not protrude more than about 17mm from the side. However this only applies to the transformer half. The other half has an enclosure behind the sockets and this is 67mm wide, but only about 20mm deep. This means that if the unit fouls in one orientation then it might clear when mounted 180 degrees.Some parts of the unit seem cheap. I can imagine that the little shutters behind the socket holes could break. However the transformer and the interior enclosure look well made. The enclosure is screwed on so if I have a future problem with those shutters or the switch then hopefully I can get access to fix it.If I remember I'll update my review after installation and use.

Very good sturdy shaver socket but difficult to fit to existing box the screws supplied were far too short and even with 50mm screws some effort was required. For some reason the earth terminal is situated at the top of the transformer which makes the hole in the socket difficult to line up with the hole in the back box. After some effort I managed it with the 50mm screw. Very pleased with the product and good value for the money.

Does the job and looks good. Be aware though if you are replacing a 'switched' version who's connectors are at the top because these are at the bottom and your existing wiring may not reach.

It buzzes, which I find a great irritation. Also, the white plugs that cover the screws are a loose fit and they fall out. Decent price but not the best.

My existing unit failed and I bought this one as it looked much like the existing one. It was a perfect fit, easy to install and great value for money.
