Q: Can the be used without tablets

Absolutely. The water simply passes through where you can choose to put a tablet. You do not have to put one in if you do not want to.

Q: how to sanitize it because water left in hose will mildew?

After use, dump out the reservoir and then turn on and the pump will pump out any water in the hose. I've been using mine for the past 5 years and I've never had a problem with any mildew.

Q: Can I put whitening tablets in my water pik machine where the water goes?

No. Will eventually build up inside. They put the tablet in the tip to avoid this

Q: Has anyone had issues w/ mold? Another version had complaints of black chunks coming out or finding it inside. How do you clean yours? Thank you!!

This is a fundamental flaw and all of the water pics and the ADA should have a handle on this you should be able to clean that handle and open it up or take it apart and it’s not I’ve got an entire mouth that is burnt my lips are burnt sores all because of that mold I didn’t know about that I didn’t see any of this I was using it as per Instructions I am so upset I love my water pic it works like a charm but the mold situation that handle has to be able to be cleaned you have to unscrew it in there for you don’t know if you can put it back together again and it’s entirely black inside I am so mad I want to hear from water pic I want a new water pic I spent $99 and this unit in my mouth has been burning for a year never thinking it was this I was told it was auto immune disease no white crap it’s this black mold
