Just what I needed
Ive gotten to the point where ive upgraded my phone and now is too large for the Mavic Air controller to take, it just looks awkward and ready to fall out, I bought this in hopes to fix the issue and it has!! fits my Note 20 Ultra with case on perfectly, actually with room to spare, very nice clamping feeling on the phone, its not going anywhere! The weight is nice and heavy in my opinion, feels premium, you just know its not going to break after alot uses, where it places the phone/tablet over the controls i originally thought it would be too far away from the functions on the controller but no plenty of room for hands and never once accidentally nudged or touched my phone whilst flying.Very well thought out design and honestly its perfect for what I want. For anyone buying this you will need an extended cable to connect your phone/tablet to the controller as the original one that came connected to the controller will not reach the device, however I did find that the charging cable that came with the Mavic Air to charge the controller fits under the controller and into my phone (USB C) so I didnt have to buy another cable.

A must have for Mavic users
While the Mavic controller holds any smartphone very well and even an iPad Mini size tablet, to use with a larger tablet one needs a proper jig. After looking at many products to use Mavic Air controller with my 9.7" iPad Air 2, I decided to go with this one. I am mighty pleased with the product. It is very sturdy made from black coated aluminium base plate and a plastic holder. The jig holds the iPad snug. I was worried about not seeing the control joysticks but soon realised that one doesn't need that. It is such a pleasure to view the footage on a large screen rather than a sub 5" of the smartphone. There is similar another (SKYREAT) item that comes with a neck strap. That may be considered as well. The one downside is that we require a longer iPad data cable. I was initially using the original iPad lightening cable but it was too long. I used to wind it along the centre rod but it still used to interfere with my fingers on the controls. I had to buy a shorter iPad data cable and I purchased this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B072147KK4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Note that you must buy the lightening data+charging cable. There are many that are just iPad lightening charging cables and those won't work. So an additional cost of about £6; but totally worth it.All in all, I would say this is a must have for Mavic users (Pro, Zoom or Air) and with an iPad or similar size tablet. I can't say whether it will fit a 12" iPad but I think that 12" iPad is too unwieldy any way.

Good option for using a tablet
Found the iphone 5s a bit too wee to use with the Mavic and wanted to utilise a budget tablet I had. This does the job admirably. The metallic plate is surprisingly heavy but not in a negative way, it will be very robust and stand up to wear and tear. The foam-faced clamps are good and wide to support a tablet sized device. Take note that depending on your model of tablet they may foul the on/off or volume buttons. This is the case on my Lenovo Tab2 so I have to offset it a bit but it's not a "fault" of the product- it has to be a onesizefitsall sort of thing.....When not in use I mount the metal plate into the clamp part so it all fits together nicely. I would have given 5 stars but for the fact that on my example: the plastic part which covers the spring mechanism of the clamp was not seated properly at one end and it was a bit of a job prising it back into place so my tablet could sit flush. I didn't want to return it for something so simple but at the same time if I had broken it trying to fix it I'd have been left high and dry.

Solid
I fitted this clamp to my Mavic Mini controller so I could use my 9.7" Android tablet. I've taken it for a couple of flights and it works very well. Both the clamp itself and the nut tightening mechanism are solid and stable. The metal base fits comfortably between the unfolded clamps at the bottom of the controller. Of course the tablet obscures the controller but that's not a major problem as the two sticks and four buttons can easily be operated without looking. I like the way the two pieces clamp together as one compact foldaway package in the draw string carrier bag - makes it nice and portable.

It took me a few minutes to click how it works but once I realised I have to say what a brilliant piece of simple design and very effective
I cannot tell a lie when I first got this I thought there was a piece missing. It took me a few minutes to click how it works but once I realised I have to say what a brilliant piece of simple design and very effective. I use this to attach my iPad4 mini to my controller and its great. It takes seconds to assemble once you realise how it all goes together, and it folds down very flat into a wee pouch which can go in your camera or drone bag. Great item. Being made of metal too I expect it to be long lasting and rugged enough. Great item for when you realise flying a drone with just a smartphone screen to look at is a problem!

Nice bit of kit
Very pleased with this. The mounting plate is solid, well made, and fits securely in the controller arms. The stand then mounts onto this very easily (as somebody else mentioned, it's best to unscrew the ring completely before you try to push it onto the ball). With my iPad air it feels secure and well balanced and does not interfere with using the controller. Yes, the screen of the controller is beneath the iPad screen, but you can easily tilt it to take a look. It's also nice the way it packs away into it's own bag.
