What a buy!
I went on Subscribe and Save, got six bags of flour no shipping, no tax, comes out to LESS THAN half price (one bag normally costs $5.99). The bags are of a substantial size at 24 ozs each. I made coconut cookies with this flour and coconut flour combined--no white flour at all, using a cookbook entitled GOOD TO THE GRAIN. The recipes on back of bag are a good place to start. At this price, you can share the wealth by giving as little gifts to other Foodies you know.

Use to make rotis (Indian Flat Bread)
I use this instead of Wheat Flour to make rotis. Barley is supposed to help with cholesterol reduction, and also has lower GI (Glycemic Index) than Wheat. I add some gluten (about 15% by volume) to make it stretch well; without gluten, it is difficult to roll and comes out rather brittle. With gluten, it is easy to roll, puffs well. Resultant roti is soft, but a little more substantial than the wheat rotis.

I use it to make cornbread along with stoneground cornmeal that I have myself milled to make it less like eating "rocks"~
Will buy again, I use it to make cornbread along with stoneground cornmeal that I have myself milled to make it less like eating "rocks"~! But between the two flours my blood sugar stays normal and I can once again enjoy a piece of unsugared cornbread!

Short shelf life
The flour should be just fine, but I felt the remaining shelf life for this flour was rather short--June of 2014--4 months. I had not intended to use the 6 bags immediately, so the best solution will be to freeze it. Hopefully that will not affect the product. The product was received on time and enclosed in plastic bags to protect it from the elements.

BBBBBBarley......
I find this to be about the same as Bobs Red Mill Barley, except in organic. I wish, however, that it came in units of 4 insterad of 6. Five bags of this fills up the 5.3 qt containers I purchased and there's still a bag to do something with.... Good quality though. My sourdough starter ate it right up :)

Excellant
This is a must have product for a Pre Diabetic I thought I would never be able to have any bread products or Cookies again but this barley flour is actually good for pre diabetics and I have proven to myself by using it that it actually helps lower blood sugar when used in the place of white flour.

Excellent for Bazeen
I like this kind of barley, it is so special especially when we make Bazeen out of it. Bazeen is the most popular traditional dish in Libya. We eat it here in NY every werkend.I tried many other kinds, but until now this is the best. No worries at all

Great product but feel a bit ripped off
I purchased this to make the Real Food Daily chocolate cake for my birthday. I would have preferred to buy it locally but my local health food shop doesn't stock this flour and the major supermarkets don't seem to be sophisticated enough to stock it. I had no choice but to buy it online. I'm a little bit disappointed that it cost so much money, almost £7 with the p & p included. We are constantly encouraged by the government and the media to make healthier food choices but why do they have to cost so much? You can pick up a bag of white processed flour from the supermarket for 45p, so Its fairly obvious why so many people opt for the unhealthy option. This is also a very small bag, only 600g so I only got enough for the cake and one loaf of bread. The product is good and the seller dispatched it promptly. Rant over.
