A fun Lego set - MUCH better with the base Mario set to interact
This Super Mario expansion Lego set, featuring Toad's Shop, has a very younger Lego vibe, with the Toad and Nabbit characters that you construct as chunky, tactile toys to play with more than just to stand on a shelf. At only 230 bricks, this isn't a huge set, but the current price of under £20 is consistent with the pricing of some other recent licensed Lego sets we've built. The idea of buying a base Super Mario Lego set and then buying expansions to get the most out of the figures etc feels like a rip-off, but if money isn't an issue or you're committed to the digital app element then you definitely get more out of each set if you own the original Mario figure to combine with this. There are chips in the shop and Nabbit's sack that Mario will detect to make sounds and change his expression etc. It's frustrating to review as a standalone set without having Mario to add into the mix, but there are plenty of videos online to show the interactive elements.Overall, I think if you're collecting Super Mario Lego then you're unlikely to be disappointed by this one.

Excellent value for money, a probable must for Super Mario fans.
Honest is the best policy so you should know that these sets are got mostly for myself as a cheap form of therapy for my mental and physical dexterity, but once built and dismantled again I do pass them on so the review is mostly my experience and would not reflect a child's version of building these kits. Here is where I get confused a I'm pretty sure The Super Mario name is a big one for licensing but at under £14 for 230 pieces this set offers fantastic value for money, I was never really into Super Mario but there is no denying the colourful characters and excellently designed shop pieces are awesome to look at and make for a very fun build, I will enjoy gifting this on to a Mario fan when I can find one in my group. An excellent choice for a birthday or Christmas gift for a ridiculously low price for such a major brand name, grab it while you can.
