My son wanted to work on a car engine this summer so I got him this to prep him!it was fantastic, he loved it. Its educational value cannot be overstated, and the fact that its battery operated and functional was a real treat. He really enjoyed it.

12 yr old put it together in 4-5 days. The directions are clear, and the parts are quality.

this was not a very challenging set for me, if you don't know how an engine works don't recommend it.the only problems about it was, that when you turn it on, the gears keep falling off, and its a very tedious process putting in back together. I also didn't like how YOU have to cut some of the pieces in order to fit them. Its really annoying. It was still fun to build though.

I bought this kit for my husband, who has torn down and rebuilt more engines than I can count. The instructions with this kit are ridiculous. It's all pictures (poor ones) with arrows going every which way and no specifics about how to put the kit together. My hubby will muddle through and figure it out, but don't purchase this for a first-timer or someone who doesn't understand what the components of an engine are or how they are supposed to go together!
