Only lasted one season.
I bought 2 we loved them! They made summer and fall a pleasure. I stored them over the winter and when I took them out at the end of this summer the strings that run from the crank to the umbrellas had broken. They will not open and there is no way to open them. I could not find a way to open the crank to run a new cord or rope to fix them. I called Ikea and they told me they do not give instructions to fix them. What a waste! The stands and the umbrellas are in mint condition yet they are now just trash!

Not bad once you replace the cord
6 screws, one steel cable from the hardware store later and the umbrella is stronger than ever. Yes the nylon string breaks easy, but it took a total of 20 minutes and $5 to fix. the cable runs easily through the base and reels in no problem. Now it is stronger than ever and beautiful.

Bought one then exchanged another, crank doens't cinch tight again.
I bought one of these then the crank wouldn't cinch the umbrella tight. I returned it for another. Again the crank stopped ratchetign after about a week. So the umbrellas doesn't cinch tight and fully open, it just flops around almost fully open, because the crank won't hold it tight. Nice looking good price but you get what you pay for.

We fixed it.
The string broke in our Karlso after two years of regular use. We just fixed it today. Yes, it took two people and some wire to pull the string through the various tunnels, but we did it. And it was worth it. It's a big umbrella, and it would be hard to replace one so big. The entire cost was just a bundle of sturdy nylon rope. Just get it the right size, and you've got a brand-new umbrella again!

Poor Quality
I concur with the previous review. The thread broke after few months of use. There is no way to replace the thread. Poor design.
