When it comes time to grilling your favorite meats you want the most delicious flavor possible. The Professional Barbecue Grill Box will outperform other grills because of its patented heat-diffuser plate and cast iron grill grates. Camp Chef’s patented heat diffuser converts flame to inferred heat, evenly heating the cast iron grill grates so your meat is seared to perfection. Grease drippings are vaporized infusing your food with a rich barbecue flavor that cannot be achieved any other way. A temperature gauge is built into the lid for convenience.

Great little grill box with a few exceptions
First off, I am very happy with my purchase. The heat is pretty even across the entire surface (a little less heat in the 4 corners of the box, but that is expected because the burners are located in the center of the grill box).A few things to note:-Thermometer: After I am done grilling, I cook off the excess grease/food before I clean the grill surface. The grease fire cooked the box to such extreme that the thermometer spring was bent in the mechanism. Now the room temperature is showing to be 180 degrees. If you like to burn off the food before cleaning, remove the thermometer (its real easy to do). The thermometer is working but is off by 120 degrees or so now. This is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 (if i could, i would give it 4.5 stars).-Keep the box oiled: Spray with cooking oil to prevent rust. I lightly spray Pam for Grilling all over the grilling surface and the bottom of the box before I put it in the storage bag. So far, so good! At the end of the season clean the box thoroughly and then apply a high temperature spray paint to the bottom surface of the box (not the cast iron cooking grates, duh). I must stress a high temperature spray paint meant to withstand temperatures in excess of 1500 degrees. If you do this, this will prevent rust damage to the box and will extend its operating life. When its time to break the box out again for grilling, be sure to remember to cook off the paint fumes before putting food on there to avoid a steak from tasting like spray paint!-Do not cook on Hi: The box is not meant for 30k BTU's per burner exposed directly on the bottom of the box. Medium is still plenty hot to grill things at a fast rate. (In fact I rarely grill higher than low anyways)-Buy the cover carrying case: Its great because it not only does it make it easy to carry and transport but it makes storage in the garage easy because there is no mess from burned food material flaking off all over your clean floor. If you follow this advice, you cant go wrong with this product. Like I said the heat distribution is very even compared to other grills i have tried.Generic Grilling Advice: Dont be hasty with grilling, it takes time and patience before the food is cooked properly no matter what grilling equipment you have. The worst thing is to jump the gun and try to cook fast, only to find out that your food is not just burned on the outside but undercooked on the inside.

best camping bbq
This is probably one of the best grill units i have ever used. It doesn't look like but i now use it exclusively for grilling. it comes with two heavy cast grill grates and they are fantastic! I read the reviews before I purchased it and i can say that i have had none or the problems that were mentioned. however that said I can imagine that in an area that is coastal or subject to high rust rates the bottom could rust out. however having used this all last summer and all winter i can say there is no corrosion. I live at altitude and very low humidity so rust here is not a problem. Temp is easy to control and because the grates are cast they hold heat extremely well and the food cooks wonderfully. We have not had a bad meal from it yet and it gets used at least 3 time weekly.

i love this but the grates rust so quick they come seasoned and we intentionally cooked greasy foods on it first and still had issues. trying to find a way to clean the grates at this point i think sand or soda blasting them to a raw stage than refinishing them with professional seasoning

Best Grill I have ever owned
I gave a lot of thought before I purchased this grill, along with a camp chef 3 burner stove, griddle, and accessories. In the end it all turned out to be the best camping purchase I have ever made. Grill works great, food is excellent. Found no issues with the BBQ box. Cleaning is a little work, and I would encourage anyone buying to clean the grill before you pack it. This includes removing the grates and cleaning the bottom of the box. Some effort involved, but then when you back it up, the grease is gone.

This is my second one. I left the first one out in the weather pretty consistently for about 3 years and the bottom rusted out. I am now not doing that and should get long life. Does a great job and has very few flare ups at all even with hamburgers. Highly recommend the Camp Chef Cooking System.

Grill box
We purchased this to go with our Camp Chef stove, which we love. Unfortunately, our stove is stored outside covered and we thought we could do the same with this and it rusted before we had ever used it. Then, when we went to open the lid the handle broke off. I understand cast iron has special care required but being an outdoor product I thought it would be a little more durable.

Great product!
I am a big Camp Chef fan. I use this on my 3 burner patio version stove. I have the Camp Chef Explorer 2 burner and the small grill box when I go camping. It would be nice if Camp Chef welded the flamer tamers to this like on the flat grills. I had to buy them which may help the issue others have with the grill bottom getting destroyed over time.
