Majestic Wonder (with Video)!
The media could not be loaded. I can't recommend this watch highly enough. It boasts jeweled gears which satisfy my magpie-like craving for shiny things, but the juxtaposition of gold and silver within ensures that it remains classy. Every support is engraved with graceful swirls so that even the functional parts of this watch are gorgeous to behold. My favorite thing is that the face is completely open to view, unlike some other models on the market. The unobstructed composition of the Akribos allows you to see all of the intricate working gears which is both fascinating and beautiful and presumably why one would want a skeleton watch in the first place. This watch marries both form and function flawlessly for a magnificent product at a reasonable price. So far I have been very happy with the purchase. It keeps perfect time and it is lovely. I couldn't ask for more in a wristwatch. The body of this watch is beautiful.The band has begun to come apart - the plastic edging peeled off but the leather is still intact. The back plate also popped off once but I pressed it back in and I haven't had a problem with it. I am pretty easygoing though so these things may bother someone else.I do wish the face was larger - and I hope to get a stainless steel chain band for it as the leather one is a bit small (if your wrist is over 7 inches this band will not fit - I had to poke a new hole).But it's a nice watch for the price, the workings are smooth and very fun to watch, and beautiful to look at.

Do not buy
The watch is beautiful, but unfortunately it is a piece of junk. I got this for my daughter for Christmas. It never worked properly and I returned the original. The second watch was even worse and completely fell apart right after the small window I had to return it. I'm so upset, because it was her main Christmas gift. She still wears it, but it is not functionable.

A BEAUTIFUL SKELETON WATCH!
March 11, 2018: I do SOOO much of my shopping on Amazon, that I only post for something that I feel is worth a review. And this is one of those items. This is a beautiful watch that does a great job keeping time! And the rose gold is better looking that in the photograph. I have loved 'skeleton' watches for years and my last one broke. I miss that watch, but this one keeps better time than that one did. A watch is almost 'extinct' as far as people needing a timepiece is concerned. Most people just use their smart phone, which is totally accurate as a timepiece.For me, a watch is a memory of my childhood. And my dad used to love looking at the gears inside of a watch, so whenever I look at my watch, I think of him. In addition, I have always gotten compliments on all of my skeleton watches. ("Wow, you can see inside!!") I never did on all the previous watches. I'm glad I bought this!July 1, 2019: Here is my update. I still love this watch. This is probably my third skeleton watch, but the other two were another brand that is no longer made. I just toasted this watch accidentally, and am about to order another. I have found all of my skeleton watches to be a little off telling time, either a little to fast or a little too slow. But I'm not looking for a Citizen's $7000 watch (supreme accuracy). I already have a cell phone for the EXACT time, so my watch is to tell me what time it is "mostly". I just really love the look of this skeleton watch and still get people to complement the looks, or asking about the gears. Watches are archaic now, so to have something that looks retro with gears is still pretty cool.

Purely ornamental, but what an ornament!
The self-winding mechanism is not enough to keep good time. You have to manually wind it every now and then, so it's not truly automatic. The instructions are pretty terse and not entirely accurate: the second hand does not stop when setting the time as stated, and there's only one direction I can go when winding it, so I assume that's keeping it wound. But I'm left wondering as to how many times I must wind it, and if I'm over winding it.The rose gold color appears to be fading on the case and buckle, and it didn't take long for that to happen. It's also shinier than in the main pic, which made it seem like it would have more of a matte look. I personally would've preferred matte.All that said, it sure is real purdy! I guess watches are pretty superfluous these days, particularly self-winding ones, so as long as you don't depend on it for telling time, you'll probably at least derive some value from it's beauty.So to sum up, it's a $100 watch that you can't depend on for telling time, but is really beautiful. I used reward points, so I'm not too full of buyer's remorse. I wouldn't recommend spending actively earned income on it, though.

Becareful of the seller not selling genuine Akribos watch
I love the Akribos skeleton watch model, so I ordered the gold. When the watch arrived in Australia, found: the box used isn't a genuine Akribos watch box, the watch itself wasn't sealed just like a brand new watch supposed to be, got hairline scratches on the watch's case, and worse yet, the watch is broken/didn't work. Highly suspected that the seller sells non-genuine/non-authentic Akribos XXIV watch. Buyers out there please be aware of this seller !!!!!!!!!!
