I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about with cast iron, and this CAROTE pan was my entry point. I've had it for about two months now, and it has earned a permanent spot on my stovetop.Pros: The performance is genuinelyimpressive. The pre-seasoned surface was great from the first use-I made fried eggs that morning and they slid right out. The heat distribution is phenomenal; it gives an incredible, even sear to steaks and burgers. The best feature, though, is the removable silicone handle cover. It saves me from constantly grabbing an oven mitt and makes maneuvering the pan much safer.Cons: The main drawback is its weight. This is characteristic of all cast iron, but it's something to be aware of if you have any wrist or strength issues. Also, the "easy clean" marketing is a bit generous. It's easy for cast iron, but it requires a specific care routine (no soap, scraping instead ofscrubbing drying immediately on the stove, and re-oiling) that is more involved than a typical non-stick pan.Verdict: If you're willing to embrace the care routine, this pan is an absolute workhorse. It has improved my cooking and I expect it to last a lifetime.

I like the size and weight of this cast iron pan. It’s not as heavy as other we have. The pan came very well packaged to prevent any damage to the enamel coating. I wasn’t expecting the inside of the pan to also be enamel coated. The only part not coated is the top of the rim. The description talks about seasoning the pan with oil but that won’t do anything with an enamel coating unless you have scratched coating using metal utensils.

I got the 8 inch pan and I'm loving it. I use butter to grease the pan and make eggs and they cook up well. The exterior has a baked on red enamel and the interior has a black enamel baked on. The only issue is that the handle gets hot while cooking. If you need to move or slide to rearrange the pan while cooking you can grab it from the loop part of the handle. You could also wear an oven mitt to stay safe. The pan should have arrived with a silicone mitt for the handle to avoid getting burned. Other than that, it cooks evenly, is very easy to clean and will last. Be aware that since it is cast iron, you may want to rethink giving this to someone who struggles with lifting weight such as someone whose been recently operated on, the elderly, etc. It's not terribly heavy but noticeable.

Surprisingly solid cast iron pan. It weighs in at a hefty 3 lb 3.2 oz and feels very sturdy in the hand. I was surprised to find it has a finish on the cooking surface—something I didn’t expect. Overall, it looks and feels like a quality piece.
