Thomas' Calculus

I learned calculus but then didn't need to use it for decades in my work in computer science. Now I need it again including things that aren't well covered in many basic books such as partial differential equations. I tried using the calculus book from school (Loomis, also a very good book) Calculus for dummies, as well as others I found at the library. But a friend recommended this book and the difference is just amazing. Things make sense in this book that are harder to comprehend in others. It's hard to explain why, I think part of it may be that there are things that are obvious to mathematicians that aren't obvious to the rest of us and that this book does a good job of pointing these out where as other books tend to explain details without making the general structure clear. But for whatever reason I find this book very understandable compared to others. Plus there are tons of exercises and additional materials.

Lost my calculus book from 1954. The review was good. I bought it, & I like it.

This book, and maybe all textbooks on Amazon, is apparently limited to access through only one device. I can read other kindle books on my phone, PC at work, or Mac at home - even on my Kindle reader. This however, I can only have on one computer at a time. I tried to open this at home, and it refused to let me because I first opened it at work.I could not access the book I just paid 90 bucks for because I could not delete it from my work PC remotely! Deregistered the device - still could not open it. Went to content and requested it delivered to my Mac, which is said it did, and then it still denied access. This is RIDICULOUS. I HAVE a hard copy of this book already and bought the Kindle because I am a serious technical designer and want my Calculus reference at my fingertips at all times and apparently this is a s^(^*&^ way to do it.Next time, I will do what I did to my Structural Analysis textbook. Saw off the spine and run it through my office's fancy 2-sided scanner in about 10 minutes and then run OCR text recognition on it. I may no longer have a bound hard copy, but I can access this reference from anywhere now.$90 for a non-physical copy of a book they wrote 20 years ago. Absolute racket these textbook authors are running. I'm out.

The book itself is exactly what it claims to be and works with my sons college class although when I purchased this new not used I thought it would come with the online access code that it’s supposed to come with. I now have to purchase the access code and spend an additional $100 just to be able to use this book online with his class. His teacher requires the online access. I will never purchase from this company again since I feel like I got ripped off.

Ordered a like new book and recieved a book with bent up corners, a page ripped out and stuffed back in, and the binding damaged. Not happy with this order.
