Received HL7 instead of the H7
I ordered the LED Lenser 7497 VLT H7 as depicted on this page. Instead, I received the HL7 LED headlamp. If you order this item, you may receive the product on this page Coast HL7 Focusing LED Headlamp which is cheaper and I believe inferior in quality. The focus mechanism and the build construction of the HL7 is inferior to that of the H7. The HL7 is more difficult to adjust since you have to turn the entire ring that surrounds the lamp instead of moving the slider. The case that comes with the lamp does not allow for an easy fit, so to use it, you must attempt to jam and cram everything into it. You can't just throw it in the case and go, it takes some effort to get everything tucked away.I will be contacting Amazon in regards to returning and obtaining the correct product.Update: Amazon customer service was fantastic to deal with and were able to get me squared away. The H7 apparently is no longer available but they were able to make things right. I ended up keeping the HL7 and the difference in lens adjustment didn't turn out to be that big of a deal. I scrapped the case that it came with and just keep it in a different case I already had. It is comfortable to wear but when using for extended duration on full brightness, you can start to feel the warmth from it a bit but nothing drastic. The battery life isn't quite what I expected, but the duration is still pretty good. When it starts to dim, it goes fast.

Very good, however, ...
I am a home inspector by profession and a good light source is probably my most essential tool. I have been using this headlamp for many months now and am generally very happy with it. The light output is excellent and I like the full range of adjustment. I also like the beam focusing feature though I almost always use the narrow beam setting. I have, nonetheless, had some problems with the lamp. The copper strands in the power wire broke after a while either from movement or, more likely, from being pinched by the action of the angle adjustment hinge. Fortunately I was able to repair the wire but it still leaves me with a nagging doubt of its reliability when I'm working in difficult situations. I have also found that the light switch seems susceptible to malfunction in high moisture environments which includes perspiring in hot working conditions. The on/off switch almost always fails to operate properly in these circumstances. The light will often not turn off unless I find a way to take it away from moisture for a while. I love this light but I'm still looking for an absolutely bullet-proof product.

Good, depending....
what you'll use it for. It's lightweight, comfortable headband, very easy and convenient to adjust, and the spot reflects off a stop sign 200 yards away...it is very bright and comparable to my Fenix LD20 @ 180 Lumens!). However, in the wide/flood mode, there is a very distinct dark spot in the middle of the beam, and this is a little distracting to me when trying to read a book or map up close (note: I just adjust it to the spot mode and scan the pages); related to this, if you do much backpacking, is that since the battery pack is on the back of the headband, it's a little uncomfortable when lying on a pillow or on your back while reading (you can adjust the battery pack slightly to one side, and that helps). For general hands free use, it's very good, especially when compared to the price of some like the Fenix or Black Diamond "Icon".

Best for the money
I have purchased 3 of these already (1 as a gift) and they are the best headlamp for the money. They have and easy on and off button and are focusable and dimable. I do alot of night fishing and they are great. It is great for tying lines at night and the spot is very bright. There are two cons - The contacts in the battery compartment are not very durable The hinge will wear out so the light won't stay up ( you are able to fix this by pinching the ends of the hinge with a vise grip)I have had mine for 3 years now and it is still going strong - has to be the brightest best featured light in this price range. Only getting 4 stars because of the hinge.

Great Light, poor design.
This is a pretty good headlamp, the light adjustments are very useful and and it is VERY bright when turned up all the way. What I don't like is how difficult it is to adjust, there should be some way to do it quickly but it's like a 5 minute process to adjust it an inch...Furthermore the elastic band slips through the plastic clip of the lens mount when you try to put the lens on your head... then you have to figure out how it goes back on without looking at it. It's a bit annoying.Lastly the battery pack is heavy and large... I could give up a little battery life for a smaller pack.Again though, if you're looking for a super bright lamp this is a good one.

Really bright and comfortable!!!
I don't know what the other negitive reviews are talking about!!! But I purchased this headlamp to help with IT work in my datacenters... and it has worked like no other it's incredible!! I've gone through other headlamps but this LED Lenser 7497 is the best that I've tried - it's really bright, focusable and comfortable when it's on your head. So if you're considering this headlamp, GET IT!**** update ***It stopped working last year after using it maybe a dozen times. Changed batteries a few times to make sure it wasn't battery related. Therefore, I now why all the negative reviews, I'm not recommending the product any longer. However, I would still say it's one of the brightest headlamps out there "when it works."
