SoeosShaoxing Cooking Wine, 51.24oz (1500ml), Chinese Cooking Wine, Shaoxing Hua Diao Cooking Wine, Premium Cooing Wine for Asian-Style Cooks

I guess with the advent of microplastics awareness I *should* prefer the glass 750ml bottle, but this one is a much better value that I Didn't Even Know About. (And also, I'm much more worried about a plastic cutting board, or a hot water bottle in a car. Even cutting my hand on glass, maybe. You can't ever be 100% safe.)I wish I lived where I could get my hands on a bottle of Shaoxing *non*-cooking wine. I buy real Sherry or Marsala when I want to cook with that - all things being equal, un-salted and drinking quality is better. But this brand is far superior to the substitution of a Western wine, in my opinion, for Chinese and even just asian-"ish" recipes. With a very distinctive flavor, It's the secret ingredient that brings my stir fry a little closer to what I remember from favorite restaurants.Oh, and I decant into the now-many-times-re-used bottle. The rest awaits in the fridge. (Maybe not necessary? But can't hurt.) A bottle looks nicer on my kitchen's lazy susan where Shaoxing enjoys a place of honor.

I use this in my Chinese takeout recipes by Mandy Fu. So delicious. You can actually taste this in the end result. And her recipes don’t call for more than a couple tablespoons at most. Very delicious and worth every penny.

Great flavor

There are many better Shaoxing options out there but availability and price are the reason I use this one. It is the larger bottle which is good because I use it often. It is also a little sweeter than others and although some of the more floral and intricate aspects of better ones may not be the same in this, it does to much of it. It also a little saltier than others. Soeos has many good and reliable products most of which are fairly priced for decent and consistent quality.

I was very surprised to open the shipping box and see another box in which the jug of wine is packed in! What a nice touch, instead of the jug sitting in the Amazon box as is. This little touch makes me want to order this cooking wine again because it shows me that the manufacturer respects its customers by securing their cooking wine in a very sturdy and nicely printed box to keep the product safe. I’m excited to cook with this wine too.
