Convenient product, but has a design flaw
I make sure my wife and I have one of these whenever we're on the road. You never know when you'll be stuck at the airport/on a plane and need another phone charge. When not in use, this thing holds a full charge for several months. When we have used it, it will give at least two full iPhone charges before needing to be plugged in. The light is also another useful feature. One feature that I am concerned about with this product is the inability to "lock" it. What I mean by this is, if you throw this sucker into a bag/purse/pocket - the light switch will inadvertently be turned on. I am constantly noticing the flashlight on and then having to switch it off. The end result is that you will have a dead battery (or severely drained) that won't be there when you need it most. This unit would be ideal stored somewhere will the light button will not be accidentally pushed. So, developers/engineers - the gauntlet has been thrown down. Your mission, should you choose to accept is: The flashlight is a cool feature; keep it! But give users the ability to securely lock this unit in the off position. Thanks!

Free Replacement of Defect Old Model, Button for discharge and flashlight stopped working
Edited: Great customer service. I received an email stating that the product had a 18 month warranty. My product stopped working after 13 months. I received a new model for free to replace the defect one. See below for reason of defect. The new one, should work much better than the old model because they skipped the button feature. Less parts to go bad, hopefully. The new one charges so much and is compact to carry around in your pocket. The light that shows capacity is also more detailed, meaning, you can tell more accurately what percentage it is charged. It worked great for 1 year and 3 months. It charges so fast and for multiple charges for an iPhone 5 (like between 2 and 2 1/2 full charges). But the button you push for the flashlight and to charge the phone stopped working. The button clicks, but it does not activate the device to allow it to start discharging into the phone (to charge the phone). I can still charge the battery, but I can't discharge it. I took care of the device, no abuse. That sucks! Oh well.

Must-have battery pack if you have gadgets
This is a great battery backup and less expensive than the Mophie power packs, etc. I always have this in my purse in case I forget to charge my devices before leaving the house or if I'm out and about and run out of juice. It's small and charges anything that uses a USB cord: iPhones, Androids, bluetooth speakers, etc. To recharge the Anker you just flip your USB-microUSB cord to the micro USB port and then plug the USB end into your computer or wall charger. I haven't timed it to see how many hours I get out of this, but I've made many cross-country flights with this charger and I've had plenty of battery backup. The Anker is easy to use. Once it's charged, just plug in your device and then press the round button. 4 blue lights are lit when it's fully charged, and then each light goes out as the power depletes. This makes it easy to determine when you need to recharge it. In addition, there's also a built in flashlight that you can activate by pressing the round button twice. I don't use it much since I have a flashlight on my phone, but it's nice to have a backup. One thing to note is this thing holds power for quite some time. When I'm not traveling, this stays in my purse and can go unused for weeks or months so I always check the battery level before I do travel. I always expect at least one blue light to not light up - especially when it's gone unused for months - but I've been pleasantly surprised every time when all four lights illuminate. I would definitely recommend this device since it's far less expensive than other battery backups and is consistently reliable.

Not Reliable (was original review) BUT this company is AWESOME and backed their product!! 5 stars!!
Note: ***WILL BE EDITING THIS REVIEW BY MAY 14'.... ***5 STAR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!*** they immediately responded to this review multiple times both through email and calls to replace both batteries free of charge. excellent communication and customer service!!! HIGHLY impressed. I will try the 2 replacement batteries as I tote them around the world with me, and will update this review in MAY 14'I think I can write a pretty fair review for this product: I ordered (3) different batteries last year here on Amazon. (2) of the 5600 and (1) 8400.I got one of the 5600 for my BF as a gift, and the other 2 were for me and my travels abroad. I was away over seas for over 5 months straight. I LOVE the concept of what this product is, and love it when it WORKS.... but there is a huge problem. It is not reliable... I mean 1 out of 3 died almost immediately (was not happy when I was in Bangkok just a couple weeks into a 5 month trip (and only having used the 5600 battery like 6 times total) it completely died! fortunately I had the 8400, but the purpose of having both was to carry the smaller 5600 on me, and use the 8400 at hotel/hostel (not all places have electricity and/or plugs available to use... so I thought this would be a good solution to have 2) Good thing! since one died almost immediately!Well my 8400 I still have and it simply does not "work"... The least of it's problems are that one of the 2 ports never works... so only 1 working port to charge. The glaring issue is that I plug it in (to ipad, cell, etc..) and then it stops charging. I come back a few hours later and it's not charged. So essentially, the 8400 does not work. I don't want a product I have to continuously "watch" it charge minute by minute and continuously hit the button to restart the charging process..... that makes no sense.I don't know if the 5600 I gifted to my BF would have died or not worked properly, as he did not have enough time to use it before he lossed it. It would have been really interesting had he kept his and used it this past year, because I would have been interested to see if it worked properly and/or at all... as 2 of 3 failed to work. The thing is, I NEED a reliable working external battery... anyone have advice for a more reliable battery product?***WILL BE EDITING THIS REVIEW BY MAY 14'.... ***5 STAR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!*** they immediately responded to this review multiple times both through email and calls to replace both batteries free of charge. excellent communication and customer service!!!
