Worth a lot more !
I purchased this lamp for my very dark living room. It's wonderful. Since it uses up to a 100 watt bulb, it gives me all the light I need. Now, I read the reviews only giving the lamp 1 or 2 stars...1. The lamp IS sturdy if you take the time to put the poles together correctly. Each section of the pole has a small bump on it--line that bump up to the ridge in the pole above it, wiggle into place, then turn the pole slightly and it will lock into place.2. As for the shade locking ring... if you look carefully , you will see that the ring actually has 2 parts--the inner tube and an outer ring. Remove from the lamp, put the shade in place, line the locking tube up with the center of the lamp and screw it down as far as you can--THEN, while holding the inner tube steady, simply screw down the RING. It's the ring part that holds the shade in place.I will make a suggestion to the company to re-write the instructions to make the assembly a bit clearer.Other than that--I LOVE my new lamp!!

Good deal
I was impressed with the heft of this lamp for the price. It's sturdy and, other than the thin, cheaply constructed plastic shade, is a great lamp for the price. The first one I received was defective because the locking cap wouldn't screw on to attach the shade, no matter what I tried. I wasn't sure if the fault was with the locking cap, the area it attched to or if it had something to do with the shoddy shade. But it was frustrating, to say the least. That same day I called onlinecomponents and they were wonderful! The sent me a replacement lamp within 10 days and did not require the non-functioning one be returned...saving me more shipping fees. I'd have gladly paid a bit more for a better quality, perhaps glass, shade though. But if you're looking for an inexpensive floor lamp, with 3-way lighting capabilities, this is a good deal.

Serves it's purpose- needs a switch option
I knocked this over and it broke. The touch sensor doesn't work anymore. I tried taking it apart... I don't know who I thought I was : ) I couldn't fix it. It would be nice if this had a manual switch option on the pole somewhere for just this reason. I now have to unplug it to shut it off or turn it on... Bummer. Also, the shade is pretty cheapy looking.

Ordered this 3 years ago, about to order more!
I originally ordered 2 of these lamps 3 years ago. And today they are both going strong. They started off in a bedroom as and then are now sitting in my living room the sole source of light. I have moved with them 3 times to 3 different apartments and now they are in my forever home. The shades are a bright white and diffuse the light bulbs very nicely without burning your eyes. The stalks and base are very solid and although they arent heavy, they balance out the lamp so when you hit it, it doesnt immediately fall over. I like that the switch to turn the lamps on are not that cheap plastic, but are heavy brass metal and is very solid feeling in your hand. I bought them for twelve bucks each back then and was shocked to see they are still available on amazon even now years later. About to buy 2 more!

Looks okay but could not screw on the shade
Just opened the box and assembled the lamp, which went pretty well. There's a gap in the gold trim on the shade which I turned toward the wall.Step No. 5 in the instructions says: "Unscrew the plastic locker from the socket and place the acrylic shade onto socket cup; then screw the plastic locker to secure the shade." However, when I unscrewed the plastic locker from the socket and tried to place the acrylic shade onto the socket cup, the plastic locker would not screw back on to secure the shade. I paid almost $13 plus delivery for the lamp. To ship it back would cost almost as much as the lamp and I need a lamp in my bedroom, so I put a 28-watt flourescent bulb (equal to 100 watt incandescent) into the socket and did not screw in the plastic locker. The lamp shade is whobbly, but I have it connected to the wall switch so I won't have to use the on-off switch on the lamp. It seems the space taken by the shade kept the plastic locker from connecting so that it could be screwed in. Without the shade in place, it screws in, however. Go figure!I think the lamp looks okay, but with the loose lampshade, the lamp is not very stable.

Horrible!
Hey, I wasn't expecting much but seriously, these are a pretty bad. I bought two of these for my office. The plastic shade comes all dented and looks so cheap. The stupid pieces don't fit together right and so if you move it, you have to pick it up from the base or it falls apart. AND the switch gets stuck pretty much all the time so that it's really hard to turn it. I'm the kind of person who enjoys fixing things so I've taken it apart and tried to fix it and its still rotten. The second lamp is just completely broken now after only 6 weeks. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! I'm back on amazon looking for new lamps actually :)

PERFECT SECONDARY LIGHT
Our large dining room has one light fixture which isn't centred above our table (because we have a large family and a long table). The lighting is fine for sitting & eating but not for kids doing homework. We put this lamp in the corner of the room and it provides just enough extra light for the kids to be able to see much better when doing homework after the sun goes down. Additionally, this provides some extra light on my largest work surface in the kitchen and is much easier on the eyes than the outdated flourescent lights in my ceiling fixture. The best part: this lamp isn't nearly as tall as other similar styled lamps so the kids can reach to turn it on easily.

Floor lamps are so expensive
I never really bought a new floor lamp I guess. Finally started looking when I moved (and gave away my good lamps) and realized they are very pricey, even for a basic lamp. Walmart was typically my go-to option for cheap items to just "get the job done". Even there they were expensive. Ended up trying this lamp out and am very pleased. Yes, it is a bit cheap and up close it is somewhat obvious, but for $20, it is probably the cheapest floor lamp that will get the job done. It looks nice in the room and I am not willing to pay a large amount of money for a lamp as a renter who will most likely move every year or two.
