I purchased both the "small" and the "jumbo". Because of this, I don't really see the purpose of the "jumbo" version, all it does is take up more space in the kitchen.Regarding the negative reviews, I agree that the press is rather flimsy, and I tightened some of the screws myself. BUT, I don't think a tostonera needs to be very strong -- pressing once-fried plantains is very easy. So, I would say it is constructed according to its purpose. The press would probably break very quickly if you used it to press raw, unripe plantains, but that's not the intended use.

Nice shape and thickness of plaintsins
Works wonderfully. Oil the wood before use and the plantains come right out

Works as it should
The price is right for this kitchen tool. I’ve bought a few of these for myself and for my family. They seem to work as well as any other inexpensive tostonera. They won’t last forever but at this price point I don’t expect it to. Out of the 3 purchased only one had a screw that began to loosen up but it was an easy fix.

Quede encantada con mi tostonera de platano ,habia sido un reto conseguirla buscando por varias tienda hasta que me dije Amazon es el lider en producto y lo consegui de excelente acabado y presentacion ,ya no perdere la costubre de hacer mis Tostones .LO RECOMIENDO 100%

Waste of money and time
Awful … it fell apart first time I used it … screws fell out and could not get them back in due to the worn threads in wood

Got 3 of them
These are what we use to flatten our plantains (plantanos). My previous one had broken so I ordered these replacements which worked well. I ordered a few pieces for myself and family. Easy wash & care.
