Overall fantastic
I am very impressed and in love with this product. It melts beautifully into a very spreadable liquid form, and makes a wonderful, creamy home-made lotion. It also makes a life-changing hair and scalp moisturizer.A very small amount (about the size of a pea) melted in my hands and mostly used on the ends, then the very small remainder on my scalp makes a powerful source of hydration for dry hair in the winter without making it greasy at all. I have fine, abundant, dry hair that appears dirty very easily; but using shea butter on my hair and scalp seems to be able to moisturize both without making them look dirty at all.The smell of this product is also quite mild and very natural. It has not triggered migraines for me—and I am extremely smell-sensitive—since I began using it over a month and a half ago, and I use it two to three times daily. Melting and mixing with your favorite moisturizing oils and essential oils makes for a very safe aromatherapy lotion for migraine-prone individuals.Overall, this product has been amazing and essential in all of my natural skin and hair care products I’ve made. I will definitely buy again, and I would recommend this product to anyone.

If it's gritty then it was exposed to too much heat... should be smooth!
This is a daily must have in our household. Everyone male, female, young, old uses this product. It is wonderful! I highly recommend this to EVERYONE! I have heard some people complain or comment that the Shea Butter they received was gritty. Shea Butter should NOT be gritty. It only becomes gritty if exposed to too much heat. If it is kept at room temperature it stays solid and will melt when you rub it between your hands. What makes the NOW Foods Shea Butter great is the lack of smell, smooth consistency and the versatility. It can be used on hair, skin and my favorite mixed with other products. In case you are looking for ideas or new ways to use your Shea Butter. Here are a some tips:Shea Butter by itself can be used to moisturize chapped skin and to maintain soft skin on hands, face, hair, lips, feet basically all over.I mix my Shea Butter with Coconut Oil (another favorite) and this makes it melt really easy and apply quickly. No need to warm it up as much.I mix Shea Butter with naturally scented lotion on days I want to add a scent but need the added moisturizing power of Shea Butter. You can mix Shea Butter with any lotion or leave in hair conditioner (particularly for curly hair) for added hydration. it helps keep hair soft and doesn't build up on hair.If you are new to Shea Butter and looking for a product that will provide excellent moisture and hydration to your body this is a MUST have. I highly recommend!

Amazing Emollient
I have purchased this product several times for myself and for other people. The butter itself is consistently great. I have dry skin, especially on my hands around my cuticles in colder weather. This does the trick, but I have also found so many other uses and consider it a staple now. I have used it for a base in creating salves. I apply it to the ends of my hair. It is the best thing I have ever used for acne when my skin is really irritated and EVERYTHING else just causes more redness and blemishes. Basically, it’s great for the entire body. A small amount goes a long way so a jar lasts me a year. I use NOW brand’s supplements and oils, but this is by far my fav product from them. The butter is soft in warmer months, harder in colder months, but is not difficult to remove from the jar and immediately melts into an oil when rubbed between the hands. The only thing I could suggest is an improvement on packaging. The (#1) plastic package is helpful when throwing this in a bag for travel, but I would prefer to not use plastic where possible. The butter is excellent, has little to no smell, no fillers (just straight butter), is a phenomenal value and lasts quite some time.

Lasts and lasts
I heard on the radio where billionaire and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban (52 years old) was asked how he had suck good skin, and he remarked that a girlfriend once told him to use "foot cream" on his face. It got me to thinking about using Shea butter, which my wife used to use to smooth the rough patches on the bottom of her feet. When I first got it I could hardly figure out how to use it. It's unlike any cream in that it's literally a solid substance. You have to sort of swirl your finger around and pull off small chunk and put in on the areas of your face you want to cover, such as the forehead or crow's feet. Here's what I found: after a minute or so it "melts" on your face and you can rub it around a bit. What shocked me was its longevity. With most moisturizers, and I've probably used dozens, they soak in nearly immediately. Not the Shea butter. You can feel it working on your face all day. It's not greasy, has no smell and isn't bothersome (I'm a guy so I don't use makeup and don't know how that would work). And it lasts all day. I really like the way it works as opposed to moisturizers you use in the morning or at night on dry areas and seem to disappear, accomplishing nothing. This goes for some very expensive products as well.In summary, I highly recommend this product for the face, the elbows and feet--anywhere that gets dry. It lasts longer than anything else I've ever used.
