Good product for what it needs to be
Bought two. Both were easy to assemble. Created a ton of extra storage for us in organizing our closet. Disagree with other reviews that structure isn't sturdy. I wouldn't go dancing on top of it, but it's great for what it is - a shoe / item organizer. One note - make sure to use a mallet or hammer to get dowels all the way in. The bottom of my organizer has a small breach with a dowel cracking the outside. Nothing to worry about because on the bottom, but a word for those new customers.

Flimsy dowel rods. Over $50 wasted on junk.
I'm reasonably handy. In fact, right out of college I was a construction worker helping build houses from rough framing to finish carpentry, so I know my way around a hammer.First, this unit came in a package that had to be destroyed to get the parts out making a return far more difficult than necessary.Second, one of the obviously VERY flimsy dowel rods-the second one I tried to install-snapped off inside the hole. Normally, not a big deal. It's easy enough to use a drill bit slightly thinner than the hole to clear it out...but there aren't spares dowel rods. I could probably jury rig a solution, but frankly, I don't trust this project to go any better given the poor quality of the components.Poor quality. Poor value for the money. And because of the packaging, I can't return it. Oh, well. A $50 lesson is actually pretty cheap.

Its a Nice Shoe Rack You Must Follow Directions
I purchased 3 of these and its thick material, Yes I added caulk in the seams to make it stronger. but its very sturdy if you put it together correctly. I purchased these with my own money. Not sure if other reviewers received a different product but its quite heavy and cute. It's a great product for a shoe display thats not made of wood. If you don't follow direction this may be flimsy. Adding glue is optional to the wood peg pieces but it does make the hold stronger. Only push the wood pegs in half way to the middle, because its balanced between the two boards. Don't force it in the holes, just tap it gently with a hammer. It will only break if you are forceful.

About an hour to assemble
Unit is easy to put together, but as others have noted, you do have to pay attention to the instructions, diagrams, and the hole patterns in the wood. It's sturdy, but like all particle board with laminate, easy to damage. Don't over-tighten screws and use wood glue. Nice enough for a closet, but it's probably worth half the cost for what it is.That being said, it's perfect for my needs and makes my closet shelf almost feel like it's a built-in component.

Need fairly large/flat/smooth area for easy assembly. Need to be attentive of finished vs
A. One(1) time purchase of three(3) units.B. Assembly of unit required. Need fairly large/flat/smooth area for easy assembly. Need to be attentive of finished vs. unfinished edges for correct assembly.C. Back is of rather flimsy pressed paper board and doubtful of withstanding very much frequent impact.D. Assembly part: nails, woefully insufficient for best assembly/attachment of back to shelving. Need 3X the number of nails provided. Can get comparable/upgraded nails at any hardware/Home Depot/Walmart/etc. type store - just requires extra time/effort/small $ to acquire supplies. A high frustration factor if short on time.E. In addition to "D" preceeding, get a small bottle of Elmer's white wood glue.F. Have a good day.G. Can be a great project for family members to work together to teach/explain/show how/etc. a project is accomplished. Have a great time.

My closet was the worst part of our home
I have been on an organizing rampage since last year... this year I updated my kitchen, my son's room and our bedroom closet... when I say 'UPDATE' I mean I've revamped the way I store things and the way I've organized it. My closet was the worst part of our home. We went from having individual closets to sharing 1. I just threw everything in there and never took the time to make it work. Recently I purchased a different storage items and this was one. It sits on the floor on my husband's side and he uses it for his shoes. There is space on top for a printer and his shaving caddy. We love how it looks. Once I'm done with the closet I will add pix.

Awesome
Love this item and made organizing my closet easy. Product was easy to assemble and so sturdy. Great value for the money that I bought it twice.

4 Broken dowels within minutes
The wooden dowels broke. All four of the longer ones. I have put together many IKEA projects and this has rarely ever happened, and there is always a spare dowel just in case. But this product made bad, fragile parts and has no replacement. I have to order new dowels from Amazon. I'm disappointed that closetmaid doesn't even offer these as spare parts on their website, because I'm sure this happens often. (All 4?!? 🤦🏽♀️) Getting them out was a pain too. I had to get a drill and make a mess. I would not recommend buying this product, just go to IKEA. Same concept, better made.
