I researched sump pumps for a while as we could hear the old sump pump (14 years old) getting louder and worrying about it giving out during the next heavy rain. It seems that the recommendation is for a sump pump to be made of cast iron and not to go with lightweight alloy or aluminum housing. This sump pump is identical to Home Depot's top of the line Rigid model, but costs about $25 less from Amazon. The advertising and model features are identical except this one says Wayne on the side instead of Home Depot's Rigid designation. The sump pump arrived in 48 hours which was fantastic since it was right before Christmas. I ordered it with the Wayne check valve which fit perfectly into the pump's discharge hole. I used plumber's tape to make it tight and I can twist it off if needed for some reason in the future. Installation was very easy with instructions. I'm not a home fixer-upper novice but I was a little apprehensive about doing minor plumbing work on the sump replacement. It was easy, especially when cutting PVC pipe to the appropriate length and connecting using rubber connectors from Home Depot (how ironic). It took less than an hour and the sump is extremely quiet works well. We had become used to hearing the old sump pump when it kicked on and when it kicked off. This sump is extremely quiet and works well and quickly. We can barely hear it from our bedroom which is directly above the area where the sump is installed. Much quieter than the old sump pump and high quality. Definitely recommended.
