Seeds Will Germinate if You Cold Stratify
I have had a very high germination rate with these. The thing you need to know if you are unfamiliar with growing woody shrubs from seed is that, unlike vegetable seeds for example, you have to stratify lilac seeds. This means soaking them in water for 24 hours (this part is optional in my opinion) and then storing them in a wet medium in the refrigerator (or other place with similar temperature) for at least 30 days. The recommended medium to do this in is peat moss because it is sterile, but I just used damp paper towel and had no issues with mold.If this process sounds like a lot of work, then growing lilacs from seed probably isn't for you.The other thing you need to realize is that if you're growing lilacs from seed, you're several years away from seeing a lilac flower. It takes time for the plant to mature and start producing blooms. If you don't want to wait a long time for flowers, you are better off buying a lilac in a 3 gallon pot.If you understand stratification and the time horizon you're dealing with, this product is exactly what it claims to be--lilac seeds. If you stratify, they will germinate.

So disappointed!
I was so looking forward to having these in my yard - however the seeds NEVER sprouted - I followed the brief directions - no sprouting of the seeds - I purchased little green houses to try to get them to sprout - and still NOTHING - very disappointing.... I'll go spend the money at a nursery - then I'd be able to at least take the dead plant back!

It was very easy tip find planting instructions for these seeds online
I was very excited to receive these seeds. There was no instructions as to planting depth, spacing, etc. It was very easy tip find planting instructions for these seeds online. I planned according to those instructions. Unfortunately, I have not had any seeds germinate. I am still hopefull that some will grow. I will try to update if and when they grow.

I have just gotten them planted and they have not ...
I have just gotten them planted and they have not yet started to grow. So at this time I am not really able to make a full judgement on these seeds.

Love the plant.
they arrived at last so long a time to wait Amazon did get in touch with me weeks ago and said that they would send out another with an extra for the stuff up, no extra so I think maybe this is the first one sent. They keep in good contact their supplier just let them down.

Sprouts have Sprouted! Sprout, Sprout, Sprout!
I have several sprouts! I put the seeds in a plastic baggie with damp peat moss and left them in the fridge for a couple of months. Then I planted them in Jiffy pods and some in a pot with soil and I have lots of little lilac plants! They took about 2 weeks to sprout and are growing well.

None germinated, not even 1!!!
I planted all 21 (of 25 I was supposed to receive) in my home in a sunny window, in an indoor germination kit (the same way I do all my flowers & vegetables every year & I have plants sprouting in a week or so). I even left them in the pots,& took outside after 3 weeks e when it had warmed up, Nothing! Not even 1 plant!
