Hard to tell if it really filters bacteria, but feels solid
This filter is a copy of the lifestraw portable filters that are available. This one comes in at around a fiver cheaper - not that much of a saving, so it’s up to you to decide whether you would prefer to save a fiver or buy from a recognised and reputed brand. In this set you get the filter unit, a straw, two soft plastic bottles.I’ve always been interested in these straw style filters sice they first came out. This filter comes in a sealed plastic bag with the instructions on the back. The instructions for use are printed on the back of the bag, as well as on a piece of paper in the bag. I would have liked to have seen the instructions printed on the straw itself, so they are to hand whenever you need them. Once the straw is out of the bag and the paper instructions discarded, you’ve got no way to refresh your memory as to how to use. This portable ‘straw’ filter has all of the same features as the Lifestraw. You can use it as a straw and drink directly from a water source. It is also possible to use the screw cap filter inlet instead. With this feature, you attach one of the two included bottle bags (filled with unfiltered water), or a standard plastic bottle (filled with unfiltered water). The screw cap thread on the filter inlet is compatible with standard screw caps. Squeeze the bottle and the unfiltered water will be passed through the housing and coming out the other end crystal clear and filtered. You can drink this water straight from the straw or allow it to flow into a drinking water bottle. The filter housing is a sturdy plastic. It feels strong enough to be able to place it in a bag without worrying about whether it will break or not. There is a thick, blue lanyard attached to the top of the filter, allowing you to hang it around your neck. The filter is small enough to be able to store it in a side pocket of a rucksack. The plastic extension tube is the same length as the filter itself. Without a proper water testing kit, it’s impossible to say how well the filter works. If I get a water bourne disease (trust me - I’ve had them and know what they’re like!!), I’ll update the review and let you know!

Small but great idea
Relatively small capacity, but could be important if you need to access water from natural sources.Compact and easy to carry.Especially good if you're camping with children and don't want them to pick up any surprises from a creek.
