Q: Will these be good on carpet for a weight bench, rack, and heavy lifting?

These are a rather cheap and thin single-sided puzzle mat. If this will be low traffic, it might suffice. Placing heavy equipment on this, expect it to tear. There are better products on the market. I'd suggest looking for a double sided mat that is thicker. I found a much better product at Sam's Club for slightly more. And you can save on shipping if you go there to buy it.

Q: The finishing strips along the sides don't fit together. Am I doing something wrong?

You must be doing something wrong. These are designed for an infinite number of interlocking tiles. Try the tile on all sides. One side should fit.

If you are talking about the sound of cracking, these foam tiles may not eliminate the sound, but, will certainly reduce it. If I we’re you, I would get e 1/2 inch thick ties if you are interested primarily inn sound reduction. If not, stick with the 3/8” tile.

Q: I would like to use this as a yoga floor in my house. I’d like to cover most of the room. Could the edges be cut to fit flush against the floor?

Yes. I used them to cover a small area and had to cut a few to fit into a corner. I needed them to fit more flush against the small, three walled area I was putting them in. I used a pen, a metal ruler and a utility knife to mark them up and get it started. I finished with heavy duty scissors. I'm a senior citizen so I may not have had enough arm strength to cut through the whole way with the knife. You can adjust the size. They fit to perfection!. Just be super careful if you use the utility knife!
