I read it for fun
Comparatively, it's an easy read. It's lightweight and convenient and information pacted. It is worth the money I spent and I got my money's worth-knowledge.

Very helpful
I'm in the process of purchasing a small business, and this book was a good quick reference to many of the different ways to value a company. It helped me to pinpoint the proper valuation for this business, and allowed me to walk the talk.

Loaded with useless information
It's a terrible book written like a bachelor essay."Here are 8 things you have to forecast to forecast cash flow... blah-blah. First is a sales forecast, to forecast sales there are 8 things to take care of".I don't know, maybe the author has number "8" fetish or something, but this is not a serious book. You don't need to perform 8 different forecasts to estimate free cash flow. I was really interested how to simplify approach and not complicate it.Wish I looked through pages right after I got it, so it would be possible to return. Damodaran, or Pabrai, or the guy from Greenhaven Associates are much smarter in explaining the concept of DCF, and more practical.

Not much on multiples of EBITDA.
I was looking for info to back up a valuation using a multiple of EBITDA for a divorce/property settlement. There was no info on this methodology which is widely used in venture capital buyouts. The primary focus was on Net Present Value of multiple year forecasts of cash flow.

Small Business Valuation
Great book; however, it is way too analytical for my purpose. I needed something to enable valuation of a business quickly. Perhaps someone would have a need for this detailed analysis.

wow
Not a good guide for buying/valuing a small business. Reads like a college term paper on net present value, annuities, or other revenue streams. Does not give good real world examples of small business.A sample tax return analysis is not even listed!?
