Do you have to take the component out of the car or do you just place it on top of it in the car?

Yes just take the sticky tape off and place over the existing material. It looks great by the way! My car is wrapped in carbon fiber and already has a lot of the carbon fiber pieces externally. This starts to tie it all together.

I'm not sure if comments and answers are being cross-posted, but, YES, this is for the manual transmission. The other one with the 5 cutouts on the left are for the Auto. Took 2 minutes to install and it looks great!
