how long does it take to cook rice in this microwave cooker

10 minutes in the microwave, 2 minutes stand time (instructions say 5 minutes stand time), for 1 cup of rinsed white basmati rice, 900 watts, but do read the instructions and experiment to get what's right for you! The instructions include a chart of cooking times for different types of rice and a variety of quantities. The times I've given vary slightly from those in the instructions, because I had to adjust them just as, it seems, a number of customer reviewers have had to do. Anyway, it's quick! I cook long grain and brown rice too, which takes only a bit longer, also steams veggies.

How tall is it? My microwave is only 16cm high internally, so want to make sure it fits!

14.5cm covers it. Though you may need to check the height between the glass plate and interior roof of your microwave. I bought this cooker recently and it works well. The interior colander is a good feature.

There is a sieve/drainer inside the bowl which lifts out. It means you can wash and serve the rice easily and helps it cook. The lid has vent holes for same purpose. It also has an integrated serving paddle. We have found this one of the most useful things we ever bought. So like a bowl but much much better.
