Is this compatible with the Lidl Playtive Junior wooden track?

If the lidl track is compatable with the brio standard that almost all wooden tracks adhere to then it should be fine. I bought the Sainsbury's wooden track and the hape engine worked fine with it. Hope that's some help.

Mine ran out of batteries after 1 hour of good usage. Does anybody else have issues with battery life?

Yes! Absolutely astonished that anyone at Hape thought they could release a kids' toy that eats 2X AAA batteries an hour!

How fast is this compared to brio?

It was great but stopped working after a couple of days. Got my grandson a brio steam engion for Xmas but I don't think it's battery operated.

Will it fit on the Melissa and Doug wooden train set?

Never heard of this one. Fits on Brio and tracks from Lidl. This is my Fav train.
