enlightening and easy to read
This guide is a small, fun, easy to read book and a great introduction if you are just starting out or already building your own collection of fine art photographs. The book helps with everything from what to be aware of to where to buy, how to store your photographs and how to develop your collection if you are on a budget. I also like that the book talks about print sizes and original intention of the artist when it comes to vintage photography.

Concise, well-written, and insightful.
The "Compact Guide to Collecting Fine Art Photography" is, indeed, compact— refreshingly so— and chocked full of great information— from how to develop a collection on a budget, to knowing what being a “good buyer” actually means. Daniel Miller shares his vast knowledge of photography, the collecting of fine art photography, and what makes it so valuable. Do we buy for investment, or do we simply buy what we love? This is a truly informative and helpful guidebook, written in an easy conversational style, complete with lovely drawings, quotes, and fascinating, insightful anecdotes. Well worth the very affordable purchase price.-Diana H. Bloomfield, fine art photographer, educator, and lover (and collector) of the handmade photographic print

Good introduction to the subject.
As a long time collector, I already knew most of this. This book would be good for someone who is new to the activity. It covers basic knowledge and vocabulary. It will improve your confidence as a collector. The parts I most enjoyed were the cartoons and his personal stories. More of the latter could be made into a book similar to Peter Fetterman's "The Power of Photography".

Perfect Book for Collectors and Photographers
I highly recommend Daniel Miller's book on collecting. He is the brains behind "Your Daily Photograph," which advertises and often sells photos worldwide. Given the volume of sales his website generates, he is very much in the know of what sells and why. This book simply explains all the vocabulary and nuances involved in identifying the value of a photograph. Well done!

Essential for any collector of photography!
This is a great book to have if you've ever thought about becoming a collector, or even just buying a photograph. It really does tell you everything you need to know in order to make intelligent purchases and--beyond that--build and hang a collection. With so many people interested in photography these days, it's hard to believe that this appears to be the only guide of its kind on the market. It's about time someone stepped in to fill the need.
