Connections Matter. AHHH!
You may scream like I did. TL;DR - The hookup has to be exactly right to work. Besides the issue described below, it works very well. The cables are sturdy and it works perfect after the correct configuration is in place.Storytime:I have it switching between a work and personal computer. Both computers (1 Mac, 1 Windows) feed into a dock that handles all my peripherals. HDMIx2, keyboard, mouse, and USB headphones. In order to connect it to my dock, I needed to buy a female to female USB-C connector. This is where the issues began, but by the end you’ll see they are easy to fix.On initial hookup nothing worked. Only the lights on the device would switch. I trouble shot and got one computer connect through the dock. Tried to add a second, no bueno. Frustrated I looked through the reviews to find an answer. Nothing. I noticed the couplers I bought were not indicating power, they have small leds on them. Read the reviews there and for that product and found the issue. Both the switch, and the USB-C require very specific connection. This means that I had to rotate the USB-C connector and the cables coming from the computer to the dock. Not only were my couplers the issue, the cables had to be rotated in some instances. It took some trial and error but it finally worked. I marked all the connection with 1 dot to show which way was up and then 2 dots to indicate signal flow. The USB-C connectors are made by Poyiccot and are purple. They are available from Amazon.

Works as advertised! Highly Recommended.
Works flawlessly. The remote is an added bonus. I love that it came with 2 hefty, high quality USB-C cables. This device is very easy to use, and has an led indicator so you know which port is active. This device is definitely worth the money.I have 2 / 2k monitors hooked up to a high end USB4 hub. All the accessories switch over almost immediately when the switch is changed from one computer to the other. With windows OS, the screens do flicker for a few seconds while connecting, but this is completely normal behavior that happens when you hookup up a monitor to your computer even without this switch.

Functional USB-C KVM, Cables Could Use Some Work
As other reviewers have noted the provided cables from switch to computer need to be in the correct orientation to work. Additionally the cables are quite stiff which can make cable harnessing a little messy. They also have a low quality casing where you can feel the sticky residue every time you touch them. All that said you can easy buy some much better thunderbolt cables which solves all your issues. The switch itself works well and the remote is RF so it doesn't require direct line-of-sight which is necessary because the chord from the switch to the monitor is pretty short. The port on my monitor is so high the switch can't reach the desk so it is hanging behind. It's a little pricy for the quality but functionally it's exactly what I needed

It doesn't work
Unfortunately, this does not work. We're past the return time. Hopefully the review will save someone else money wasted. When connected, you can here a click. The lights blink to show that the remote is paired but the laptops never display on the monitor. We used the USB cables they provided as they've stated in the instructions but no luck. Disappointing.

The remote sucks and the cables are short.
The remote sucks. It burns through the battery faster than an AirTag, it is difficult to change out the battery and the protocol is unable to be transferred to a universal remote. If anyone knows a way to switch the power supply I'd love to hear it. At this point I'm planning to dismantle the remote and find a new housing for the whole thing.Because the cables are so short if you use this on an Apple Studio display you will spend most of your time getting up to go behind the screen to press the button instead of using the dead remote on your desk. I read the reviews and accepted the remote was going to suck however I didn't realize I wouldn't be able to have the physical switch somewhere close on my desk.It works well for hook up two Macs to a Studio display. I have tried it with an M1 Mac Book Pro, M1 Ultra Studio and an M4 Mac Mini.

finally a working thunderbolt kvm!
I've been waiting for this little device for such a long time. Having a few macs, say a work issued one and a personal one, and a home desk with an apple display, i've been in search of a soltuion that would allow for simple switching between them, like the KVM of old. for years none existed, and the ones that did had strange power requirements and massive bulk. now with this simple thunderbolt splitter and genius remote control, it just works ! thank you cablematters! you rock!

Might work for very simple set ups, might not work for vertical displays
Doesn't work with my two monitor set up with a Thunderbolt 4 docking station. I have two new Apple M4 Max machines. They connect to two monitors with a Kensington Thunderbolt 4 dock. Both computers work great with the dock on it's own and the two monitors. But using this Thunderbolt 4 switch does not work. It will only run one monitor when used as a switch between the two Macs. Basically this might work for a very simple set up (one monitor) or low resolution use cases. This does not work for 2 27" monitors connected to new M4 Max Macs. To be clear I followed all instructions and used the cables supplied with the switch. I just need a more convenient way to switch between two computers than unplugging the cables from the dock manually. Sadly this product does not deliver this as advertised. I also noticed that every time I used this switch (with only one monitor working) the computer would see it as a new display and change it's orientation from vertical to horizontal, which is not something that could be sustainable.
