Great quality
I bought these Jul 23, 2018, and they've been in regular use for a hair past 3 years. I do a lot of service changes, typically 150 and 200 amp most of the time. As such I deal with a lot of 2/0 SE and 4/0 SE cable. This thing never gives me any trouble cutting. I know it isn't meant to cut the whole cable, rated for individual conductors but the bit pair just shy of $140 has no trouble. It does start to be a bit more of a chore doing 4/0 SER for a 200A subpanel, but that is a thick 4 conductor cable. I've used the release function just fine, I feel those reviewers who said it didn't work didn't quite understand how to do it right. It is a bit counter intuitive, but admittedly its a feature I don't use often. My one gripe about this product is the locking lever. I feel like it would have been so much better if it had a screw and nylon locknut so I can tighten the tension on it. The problem I run into is as I'm cutting I always end up in a position where gravity swings the lever down and "locks" them in the closed position. It's an annoyance, but for the price point very tolerable. I've always planned to drill out the rivet at install it the way I envision it should be, but I just haven't gotten around to it. That's really my only complaint about the tool, overall it has been solid. I had a cheap Chinese red pair ordered on Amazon for $30 or $40, it'd eventually became a Frankenstein case of 3 versions of itself from me and coworkers making a good pair and it barely scrimped by. This Southwire tool stands up to abuse where other cheaper ones do not. I intentionally do not want the Klein version as their quality seems to continue to go downhill while their price stays the same or increases. You can only live on a once great reputation for so long.I came here to buy the smaller version to replace my old cheap red pair I mentioned that got tossed and noticed I hadn't reviewed this fantastic cutter.

So far so good
Worked great until my helper that day decided not to listen to me and tried to cut a steel cable. I need blades to replace them. I came back to helper within minutes and ' they were like that" was his response. I've only had them a few weeks.
