Cold SteelUltimate Hunter 3.5" S35VN Razor-Sharp Blade 5" G-10 Easy-to-Grip Handle Hunting Folding Knife with Tri-Ad Locking Mechanism

This is a fantastic knife for the price. I broke down over half a moose this past fall before switching knives. This blade is always in my pocket. Handle is excellent and the blade is heavy and strong enough for tough work while being sharp and nimble enough for the detailed work.

The ultimate hunter is a great EDC,I own the large espada,the AD15,and the tigerclaw ,I respect the tiger claw more than any other knife ,this knife is insanely sharp, the damage this knife can do is frightening. When the chips are down and your life is on the line ,you want coldsteel in your pocket

This is the Cold Steel I have been looking for. I have many. Most of their "hard use" folders sacrifice cutting efficiency for strength. They are thick behind the edge. Usually sharp but thick, ie. AD10, Lawman, etc. The Ultimate Hunter is thinner behind the edge, therefore it fits better. I never realized that it has a contoured handle. Muck more comfortable than those with slab sides like the Recon, Lawman, etc. I like it. Will buy again.

This is a nice, sturdy, and substantial folding knife. Its size is better for me than some of their most popular models which are too large for a comfortable, discreet carry. The thing is built like a tank, and the blade retention is decent. For me, this hits the sweet spot for functionality and practicality.

This appears to be a very sturdy and well made knife however I do have one complaint. The knife was/is extremely difficult to open and close out of the box. I have only had the knife for one day. In the one day that I have had it it has becoming easier to open but closing the knife is still difficult. It is so bad that it I cannot disengage the tri-ad lock with my thumb. I have to use my index finger and I have to apply so much pressure that it hurts my finger. I have already cut myself once due to the amount of force that I have to apply. I don't know if this is a flaw in the knife or if the tri-ad mechanism will eventually loosen up with use. If it does loosen up I will add 1 star.Update: The first knife that I received was defective. The knife began to grind when opening and closing to the point that metal shavings around the pivot were visible. After careful examination, it appears that a pair of washers on one side of the knife was missing. I returned it for a new one. The action on the replacement is MUCH better. However, do not believe all of the perfect 5-star reviews. This is a very good knife however it is not perfect. The action still a bit rough and tri-ad mechanism is still difficult to disengage. I am updating my review to 4 stars.

This is one awesome knife in every respect. The textured and incredibly strong G10 handle makes this robust knife feel great in the hand. The blade is substantial and so sharp that it may cut you if you stare at it too long, well almost. With a perfectly-sized thumb stud, the blade is easy to open, but just a tad on the stiff side, which is a good thing. The lockup is a thing of beauty. It glides into place with a significant snap telling you that it's good to go. It's tight as a bank vault, and the blade centers perfectly when closed. The pocket clip is equally strong and holds the knife right where you want it. Myself, I generally use a belt pouch for knives of this size simply because I don't like having things take up room in my pockets. Either way, you will certainly be pleased. While primarily designed for hunting and such, it's a great all-purpose knife for EDC. Additionally, S35VN is an excellent high quality steel that can take rough treatment and ask for more. I'm one of those folks who has been there and done that, so it takes a lot to impress me, and this knife definitely does. I also love the orange color. I like this folder so well that I'm going to order another to leave in the equipment bag that stays in my car. As for the dollar for dollar value, this is equally awesome. I've had folders costing a lot more than this that were not as nice. In summation, I am totally pleased with this knife in every respect and can recommend it highly. The media could not be loaded. I personally like everything about it as a work knife. It's designed, built, and priced to actually be used and not spend its life in a drawer or safe. It's lightweight and comfortable. The handle is large enough for large hands, even with gloves. The triad lock locks this blade open with a distinct "snap" and holds it there like it was a fixed blade. It has a bronze pivot washer on each side of the pivot, and the blade opens and closes smoothly. I've already sharpened and lightly polished the cutting edge to see how easy it is going to be to sharpen and maintain, and I'm very satisfied with the results. The S35vn steel takes a beautiful hair splitting edge! I strop my blades regularly after use so I don't forsee having to actually sharpen this very often unless I abuse it, or the blade comes into contact with unseen metal or stone.This knife now stays with me, and as of right now I'm giving it a solid 5 stars. If anything negative pops up I'll update my review but I honestly don't see this knife letting me down.

I am a crkt guy and have may crkt knives and love them this is my first cold steel and i really like it. I think i have found a new favorite brand its built like a tank
