Apollo Horticulture 4” Inch Premium Carbon Charcoal Air Filter Scrubber

This is a pretty good carbon filter for the money. Unlike some of the cheaper filters on amazon, this contains a decent amount of charcoal. You can look at the item weights and shipping weights toget an idea of how heavy the filters are. In general you should look for more charcoal and a thicker filter bed. The first one I received had a quality control issue with the bottom flange. It seemed to have cracked in manufacturing, but still made it out (PICTURES). Replacement was simple since it was a Amazon Prime item. Compared to a top-end filter like PHAT filters, this filter is surprisingly well made. The bottom flange uses a cone shape for better airflow distribution, and the filter ahas a good mass of charcoal. The downsides are that the charcoal is not packed as well as in a phat filter, and the pre-filter is terrible. Instead of using a a piece of poly-fill sheet like the big manufacturers do, this cheaper filter uses a sheet of felt. The felt is fairly dense and adds unnecessary restriction. If they fixed the pre-filter, it would be 5 stars.

Much larger and heavier than expected. Came with a small dent in the side of it that i'm sure will not affect functionality. The dent is not visible at all after installing the prefilter.Make sure to open the box outside! There was plenty of carbon dust in the box and covering parts of the filter. My hands were almost completely black just from taking it out of the box. I took it out and wiped it down with a rag, then washed my hands, before even touching the prefilter.The unit has been operating for 2 days now and the air coming out of it is scentless and clean. Will update review as soon as effectiveness declines.Would give 5 stars if they could figure out some way to not make it a huge mess just to take out of the box.

A great carbon filter for the price. I've used other brands and while they worked ok, it seemed like I lost of the carbon when I opened the package. This filter had minimal dusting and comes with the outside dust filter. Solid construction and my rooms smells as clean as ever.As a 20 year member of Amazon I rely on independent reviews when shopping. So I was attempting to find a replacement filter for my ventech filter I had previously. I figured since Apollo lighting is not terrible, perhaps the scrubber/filter would be similar.Ive been using it a few days, and have yet to notice any smell assistance. When it arrived, it had the crumbled charcoal in the bottom, and dust everywhere, my hands were black just from removing it from the package, be sure to wear disposable gloves as the dust smells NASTY like rotten death and it gets everywhere just like any other type of soot. I shook the excess dust into the trashcan, removed the white outer cover and slipped it on, hooked it all up and let it rip. No smell assistance thus far and this is for a very small 4x4 enclosed space.Pros: Seems solid construction, came as advertised, (Still evaluating for smell)Cons: Dirty, crumbled charcoal in unit, poor scent assistance thus far.

Great filter which has completely eliminated the odor problem. I tried hanging it in a 4x2x5' grow tent decided it took up too much room wasn't expecting such a large filter. I had to mount it ouside my tent. To compensate for the pre filter I attached A/C filter material on the end of the duct having the fan pull the air out of the tent and then pushing it thru the carbon filter works great.

I have a 2 foot x 4 foot tent and this works great for my stinkers

I bought a used like new filter. Comes with a dust cover. functions exactly as it is supposed to. I have a smaller grow tent with a personal grow that tends to be quite smelly. After installing this filter with a fan, there is no odor at all in the room.

this carbon filter was definitely used and the carbon smells like eggs it's all scratched up would never by a carbon filter from apollo again. I thought it was going to be an ok product since there grow tents and lights are pretty decent anyway I wish I woulda went with a phreak filter screw this

A large majority of the activated Charcoal was sucked out by a simple 240 CFM fan. The smell and pollen is not being removed to a significant degree. I have tested to make sure the filter is fully functioning by wetting my hand and placing it around various parts of the filter. I'd say spend the extra 40 bucks and buy a proper filter from a Hydro Store.

It's came in fast and works great. Could not ask for more. It's doing exactly what it was meant to do, clears out smoke smell out the room very well.
