Good for Work and for Play
I work on a food truck in Denver, Co and, as fall moved toward winter, I knew I'd need to be carrying extra layers with me and would, thus, need a larger backpack. I also like to hike in my free time, so this backpack seemed to be a perfect compromise. I've been using it for 4 months now, and I can happily say that I have not been disappointed. It is quite lightweight, which I consider a good thing; it seems quite durable and well-made and, whether hiking or lugging it to work, every ounce counts. I find that its several pockets provide plenty of room for everything I need on a day hike or when working on the truck and potentially being away from home or a power source for 10+ hours (catering trips to the mountains). I particularly like that the straps at the bottom (described as being for a sleeping bag/pad) can easily accommodate a heavy winter coat, if rolled tightly. While hiking, I find it to be quite comfortable while carrying several liters of water, a first-aid/emergency kit, a spare jacket, and a collapsible dog bowl. I opted for the light suspension system and, while I'm certain it's not the best ever made, it works just fine several hours of hiking. As for being waterproof, I've not had the chance to test it, though there is a zippered pouch on the very bottom of the backpack that contains a pull-out rain slick that covers the whole bag and has elastic to fit securely. I'm confident that with this in place the contents of the bag would stay reasonably, if not completely, dry in all but a heavy, drenching rain.Anyone looking for a backpack for school should be aware that, while it could accommodate everything one needs for a day of classes, there is no padded compartment for a laptop.I find this to be a great backpack at a price below what a similar North Face or other brand name bag would cost, and it performs well in both of the use cases I have outlined above.

Five Stars
Works great to carry between the seats in a RZR and have available for hiking.

Pretty roomy
I received this backpack at a discount for a honest review. Not a bad backpack, it has lots of pockets and even has a spot in front where you could put your camelback. I also like that it has strap in the bottom where you could attach a sleep bag if you wanted. Not a bad pack for a day or overnight hike.
