Recorder and transcriber
Excellent recording capabilities with clear sound playback. Lack of instructions but managed to find something on line in YouTube. Transcribing a little more complicated, but I now use the Microsoft 365 software and that seems to work better.

Amazing in many respects
This is amazing in many respects. It records your speech and when you attach it to a computer it transcribes that into text with about 90% accuracy. It started well and has stayed about the same. it hasn't learnt my voice as it is supposed to do. when I say FOUND it keeps writing FIND and I have tried to teach it, without success.Downloading the software was a nightmare. It took hours and hours, (about 6 of them). I have a slow wifi connection, so I accept this is partly due to that. This is two parts, the Philips recorder and the software.ConsPHILIPSPhilips disgust me with how mean they were. They tried to save money any way they could, (or so it seems), so for instance the USB connector is only a few centimetres long! It dangles from my computer, not long enough even to reach the floor to rest it on, or the top of the computer. This has to be a saving of pennies for them, so is just plain mean and useless. It came with no instructions, not a one. I had to look round the internet for places to learn how to start a new recording. Again there is no writing, symbol or anything on the machine to indicate what button this is. (top left). The 'menu', when you find it, is not user friendly or self-explanatory.SOFTWAREI use this every day, multiple times. The software freezes about twice a week, (about 2 out of 100 uses). It shouldn't. When it does it freezes everything I have open; documents, internet etc until I close it and re-open.There is a button for a microphone, which I wanted to use to avoid constantly attaching and removing the recorder, but this doesn't work. It shows you you can use a microphone, when you can't. That is cheating.I was unsure what rating to give this. In some respects I would have given it a 1 because it is not as shown (no mic can be attached) and the short lead means it cannot be used without buying a longer one).In other respects I would have given it a 5 because it had changed my life for the better. I can write in 1 hour what would normally take about 4 hours, and as a writer this is an important aid.It is worth buying if you do much writing, and I would recommend provided you weigh the pros and cons and decide the pros win. They do for me.

This does exactly what is promised
I was unsure about this due to some of the reviews, but my reservations were groundless! This gives at least 95% accuracy when converted to text and is completely editable on the laptop. This does everything i need it to. Took a while to complete the downloads and voice training but well worth the effort of following the instructions and completing the reading exercise to completion. Very happy with the result. Apparently only useful for a single computer but thats all I need anyway. Replay not crystal clear but good enough. Haven't attempted music recording.Does everything i needed (ie recording and transcribing voice) as well as i hoped and does it as well as i hoped!

Not bad
Quite difficult to use and the instructions are not clear, well there aren’t any. Big display and light. Thus unit could have been a lot smaller. Undecided on the audio quality. I don’t think it’s worth the price tag

quality of Philips recorder poor and very flimsy
I have used dragon dictate in the past and given the corona virus pandemic and having to furlough my secretary I decided to give dragon dictate another try. I have used it before using 4 software packages between about 1994 and 2004. I decided to give it another go.The equipment was easy enough to set up and the software to download. I used it for about 2 hours on Friday (24/04/2020) afternoon including the training and I later resumed using it on Monday morning. The recorder itself was not simple to use but I assumed that I would get more used to it. The software was also not easy to follow but again would get easier with use. On Friday I had dictated two passages, one fairly long and when it came to transcription I must say I was very impressed. The recognition had substantially improved since 2004 as one might expect. On the Monday (27/04/2020) I decided to dictate what would become a short letter. everything worked well . I then went on to dictate a lengthy passage. As I got to the end of the passage I realised that the Philips recorder was no longer working and all attempts to get it to work proved futile. The recorder had died on me. I have had to return it. I decided not to purchase a replacement due to the poor quality and flimsiness of the recorder itself.

Great, it all will work.
Lots of work with long files to read to train it.The charging cable "to connect" is cheap and does'nt fit well, so get another?
