Arizona Natural Chaparral (Larrea tridentata) – The most successful plant in the deserts of the Western Hemisphere, the benefits of chaparral are evidenced by the long traditional usage by Native American tribes. Considered a panacea by many cultures, larrea was used to treat a vast array of conditions including bowel, skin, and lung conditions. Also known as creosote, this hardy desert shrub dominates its environment and can clone itself to live for thousands of years. NDGA (Nordihydroguaiaretic acid) is the main metabolite of chaparral, and the focus of many clinical trials because of its unique approach to some ‘outbreak’ disorders like HSV-1, HSV-2, HIV, and some tumors. It is a novel approach because standard treatments only seek to reduce outbreak period after it has begun.

preventitive
I have taken chaparral off and on for a long time. It was used by the Native Americans for cancer and stomach problems. It is also very good for skin problems. It is not something to be taken every day, according to reports that I have read but I take it once in a while as a preventitive. I had a friend that took it for an ulcer many years ago. The ulcer disappeared after a while.

Potent ANTI-VIRAL if used quickly after first symptoms
Have used this particular brand for over 20 years with excellent results. I used to get frequent respiratory infections, but learned to use this (plus goldenseal, tumeric and licorice) at first symptoms. Frequently, the infection is stopped in1-2 days--BUT ONLY if used within first 3-6 hours after first symptoms. Viruses have the ability to trick our immunesystem, but only after they attain a "critical mass." So it is important to hit them hard and fast. (If your infectionis bacterial, you will need ANTI-BACTERIAL herbs: calendula, grapefruit seed extract, etc. If you aren't certain[and you won't be], use both anti-viral AND anti-bacterial herbs.)
