good
I am not a fan of the turn style knob timer, but it works fine. It is not exacly an even cooker. I find that the bottom of my toast is a bit more brown that the top, but the difference is tolerable. I am not a fan with how easily the removable shelf comes out. But again, this is not really a big deal. I would buy one again if this thing breaks down in 5 years.

2nd One Purchased
Giving five stars for a toaster oven in this price range. This is the second one I have purchased. When my first one got old and tired I replaced it with a Rival in the same price range. It was ugly and it was smaller. I had it a few months and decided to track down the same Toastmaster I had before. This toaster oven is attractive and has enough room for the breaded fish and french fries I use it for. At this price you can just toss it and get another when it gets dirty.

Definitely not a Toast Master
12-17-17 Update. After two days, this continues to get worse. Again when making toast, it doesn't appear the top element is as hot as the bottom, it glows but not nearly as bright as the bottom element. Therefore when toasting, the bottom burns while the top remains warm.Going to return for another brand.Toasting bread doesn't require quantum physics and the concept has been around for nearly 100 since it's invention in 1919. And if your brand name is Toastmaster, one would think they've mastered the process. Nope, totally failed on this aspect unless you like your's nearly burnt on the bottom while the top has yet to brown. Best way to tell if it's ready by the acrid smell and smoke emanating from underneath. And reading the reviews here, I'm not the only one to mention this shortfall. On the plus side, I don't make a lot of toast but use it for my dinners since I live alone. So far, so good.It lacks a crumb tray but my experience these are often useless. You either have to tilt it in a way the crumbs roll to the bottom of the oven, or the clearance is so tight, the tray slides out leaving half the crumbs still inside. For me, I've always use the upholstery attachment on my vacuum to keep clean.Overall, for the price I shouldn't expect too much.

Not your father's Toastmaster!
This Toastmaster oven isn't what it used to be. But, then, neither are other major brand-names. I wanted to replace a 15 year-old Toastmaster toaster oven that stopped heating. When it worked, it was wonderful. The old one has a fully removable oven liner and the exterior stayed cool to the touch even when used as an oven. Heating was uniform and toasting was predictable. It looks to me as if the brand-name was licensed to some shoddy outfit, probably Chinese, that wanted to take advantage of Toastmaster' excellent reputation, as long as it lasts. This one gets too hot to touch too quickly and the toasting is very uneven from front to back of the oven, A slight adjustment of the toast control causes big changes in "toastedness"This new oven was not made by Toastmaster Corp. If you visit their corporate site, you'll find that Toastmaster only manufactures commercial-grade equipment now but not one single toaster oven. Don't be fooled. Unfortunately I can't recommend any other toaster oven either.I finally disassembled my old Toastmaster and discovered that the micro-switch that senses when the oven door is opened and turn off the heating element, had failed. I ordered a replacement switch on Amazon and repaired the old oven, so I'm back in business. Of course the switch is not a brand-name either, so I'll probably have to replace it in a few years, but I got a package of five switches for only about six bucks and replacing the switch takes only ten minutes. I figure that I'm ahead of the game for now.

Garlic Toast Here I Come
:d Such a wonderful price.. Im so glad I found a toaster like the one I used to have as a kid. Its almost exactly the same. I might even buy one and put it in the shed for when this one breaks in 20 years and so on. So easy to use and convient.
